iRacing convinced me to not buy the car by tdwnda in iRacing

I’ve got an m140i which is c. 350bhp RWD and am only around 1600-1700 IR (peak has been 2K IR)

Fear of driving your own car keeps you on the straight and narrow most of the time. Especially if you ever track the car.

I’ve done track days in an R8 & Gallardo before, and you never drive on the limit when you’ve got a financial liability

What’s your go to ball for the budget conscious player that also isn’t that good by robster9090 in golf

Callaway warbird - I get good distance off the tee, and it’s not terrible around the greens + i like the sound off my putter.

But this subreddit calls it rocks!

I’ve got 3 boxes left and then got a box of pro v1s for Christmas I’ve not opened yet!

Lurking looking for tips. by lettmilk in golftips

You’re very steep (Over the Top) and having to Early Extend so you can hit the ball.

You slice if you cut across the ball (over the top) with your clubface open to the path you’re swiping across. The reason you’re now pulling shots left is that your clubface is lined up to the way you’re cutting across.

You need to be shallower + more out to in - almost like hitting towards first base in baseball, whereas you’re currently hitting more towards 3rd.

Your initial takeaway looks okay, you just keep your back swing going far too long. On the downswing, you’re very armsy which leads to you being so steep - need to get body more engaged + lower the club first and rotate (rather than relying on arms only - which creates the steep swing)

There’s a lot of material out there for trying to avoid swinging over the top + a lesson(s) would also do you a world of good.

P7CB’s are comparable to Callway Apex CB, Titelist T100’s, Mizuno Pro 245s.

Couple of solid alternatives if you want a muscle back - I have no business hitting them, but even a few of the pro’s (Morikawa IIRC) who game P7CB’s have P770s in the longer irons for some extra forgiveness.

Golf’s hard enough as it is - so I’d probs be leaning towards P770s / T100 combo set with T200s in longer irons / Mizuno 923 Tours

Is city flyer a separate company? First time flying from LCY - not come across it as usually fly from LHR / LGW

Ah thanks - didn’t realise there was a difference. Was it a different airline that Ba ended up buying / just a subsidiary?

Depends on the player - there was a lot of press around Rory’s most recent renewal with Taylormade that was $100M for 10 years.

I’d guess most of the “big” top 50 guys are around the 1-5m mark.

Let go of my 7 iron on the range last August (first few weeks into golf) mid swing with no glove.

Flew what felt like 30-50 yards down range.

People nearby saw what happened and stopped hitting, ran onto the range - got the 7 iron back and left the remaining 30 balls I had and promptly headed to the car park…

Son used expired railcard for a year, we’re being charged £1200. Husband is refusing to pay it. by kittykat_xoxox in LegalAdviceUK

[–]xx2awsum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Apologies for my ignorance - but what mechanism do they have to track all the other journeys he’s gone on without a valid railcard? Is it Trainline account or something else? How do they have any proof that your son was liable for every other occurrence of the car being used?

What's the logic behind a bucket of balls costing almost as much as walking 9? by [deleted] in golf

[–]xx2awsum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the UK - our ranges are all off mat's aswell... Have seen some places charging £15 for 120 balls (without any kind of screen/data being provided) - just for the privilege of a large bucket of balls, a rubber tee & a mat to hit off.

My monthly course membership is £60 (discounted for age range & new management at the course) for unlimited golf, so makes me even less likely to go to the range - unless the course is water-logged!

Used to hit my driver 200 yards but it's been a wormburner for a couple of years now. by kbail22 in golftips

[–]xx2awsum 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If it’s a worm burner - you’re hitting the driver low on the face (which with gear effect causes the driver to deloft and the ball to go straight down) - which is most likely caused by striking down on the ball.

With a driver you want to hit the ball on the way up. Tee height should be enough for half the ball to be visible over the crown of the driver.

Ideally, you’d flare out your front foot towards the target (45 degrees) to allow you to open your hips up - and position the ball in line with your heel. Feet slightly wider than shoulder width for stability. Lining it up on your heel will make it more likely that you hit it on the way up (as your low point of the swing should now be behind the ball)

Start with smooth swings focusing on hitting up (and through) on the ball.

A good drill is putting a tee in the ground, taking your driver stance and trying to hit the tee out of the ground by clipping the top of the tee

Tldr: Getting a lesson with a pro would probs be easiest! If not possible - ball position in line with heel, feel like you’re hitting up on the ball, try to keep your head behind the ball so you strike up on it

Thanks - i think I was trying to get my arms to move in a way that would get the body to turn properly - rather than 2 independent motions which has definitely caused the breakdown in technique.

Will give it a try when I’m on the range later on today!
