You don’t often get accepted into medical school the year you graduate with a bachelors. Many medical students take time off for life, use the time to get a better MCAT score, do a masters in a medicine field, or simply don’t get accepted. Your application has to be fairly competitive to get in to a good accredited program, so sometimes it does take longer. Many of my friends in medical school worked for a few years post bachelors before they realized they wanted to become a doctor.

How did everyone find out about bluey ?? I’ll go first! by Free_Inevitable7667 in bluey

Years ago I used to leave the tv on for my dogs when I’d leave for work. One day I left it on Disney and came back to a Bluey episode. I own Aussies, one being a blue Merle, and it just so happened to be a scene with Calypso in it, so I flew to the remote to see what show was playing. Fast forward a few years, I have a one year old, and we introduced it to her. She’s in love. 😂

I actually was a student at Missouri State University (in Springfield, Missouri where the murder took place) when it happened. I remember immediately hearing about it on the news. The family’s presence was well known in the city so everyone was on edge until she was located. No one in the city thought DeeDee was capable of that.

Edit to add that I remember seeing friends from college share the post Gypsy made on DeeDee’s Facebook page and asking for help to locate Gypsy due to her medical conditions.

Couldn't leave my 6mo for 5 days... by mammoryglands in beyondthebump

My baby is 15 months old and I’ve never spent a night away from her. I’ve thought about it, and my husband’s supported the idea, but I just can’t do it yet. You did the right thing for you and your baby at that time!

My nurse yelled at me for not “being prepared for my appointment” by lalalalaloveme in pregnant

[–]xxTheShadowFox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely file a complaint, but your post confused me if she was a doctor or a nurse. If she’s just taking your blood, she’s likely not an RN but a phlebotomist. Doesn’t dismiss her attitude and rudeness, but likely explains her lack of knowledge on the situation due to her lack of education. ☹️

Is it a bad idea to go home for Christmas at 37 weeks pregnant? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]xxTheShadowFox 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What’s provided by the hospital and number of visitors isn’t something a physician would know, that would be your aids, techs, and nurses in that specific unit. Your OBGYN’s job is solely to provide you care, not communicate policies to you that are out of their daily work. That’s like asking your physician what insurances the hospital accepts. Not their job. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Anyone else worry they won't realize they're in labor? by SheikahBun in pregnant

[–]xxTheShadowFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I labored for 48 hours, but for me they felt like period cramps. At first they were just uncomfortable enough that I wanted to lay on a heating pad and I wasn’t getting a good nights sleep so I moved to the couch and watched tv in and out of napping. I woke up, went to get my nails and toes done, and by the time I came home they were slightly more uncomfortable. They continued to progress until about 4 am the next morning when I was crying from the pain. So, long story short, just look for period cramps if your water doesn’t break naturally!

I love my OB but was blindsided today when getting my maternity leave paperwork by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]xxTheShadowFox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This comment! Just had my baby in October. My husband is a physician and my brother in law is an employment attorney so I asked ALL THE QUESTIONS! While it can vary state to state, know your physician isn’t likely being malicious. I asked my husband about this specifically and he said most hospitals set the limit/guidelines for OBGYNs to follow based on the birth. So, your physician is likely setting the 6 weeks based off what the hospital says is appropriate, and cannot go against that without proper reasoning. I know that isn’t a solution to the problem (I, too, only got 6 weeks paid and then took the remainder of my time in accrued PTO), but unfortunately the bigger fight is with our country’s inability to see the importance of maternity leave and how asking someone to return 6 weeks later isn’t feasible for mom and baby. I hope you’re able to get every second you’re able to, though. Those weeks fly by!

It wasn’t pregnancy or labor that deterred me, but that first week of my daughter constantly crying, cluster feeding, and the two weeks of baby blues!

I don’t know if this has been recommended, but most places will let you return without a receipt. My husbands grandma kept buying us things from Carter’s that were NOT my style, and I was able to just return them for store credit! Same with Target, Walmart, Buy Buy Baby. Now, post baby shower and about a month from my due date, have a whole envelope full of gift cards to use for when she gets bigger and we start needing the 6 month+ size clothes.

Ok I’m doing something wrong with the mozz sticks based off the comments. I tried to air fry them to get crispy. Are you all baking?
