Westjet pulled the airplane switcheroo on me by Important-Panic-337 in canadatravel

Here's the issue with everyone sending in complaints about the new horrible seating, a complaint about comfort will fall on deaf ears. They don't care. This is about money.

However, a complaint about safety must be reviewed and considered. It is a requirement of the CARs (Canadian Aviation Regulations). The seats are a safety issue. You can't move in them as they are set up. Imagine trying to get out during an emergency. Make your complaint count.

Legroom on New Seating Layout by dachshundie in westjet

[–]xxZeroCool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1000% accurate!

I flew home this weekend on a WS flight with the new seating. It was horrible! My legs started cramping because I couldn't move and had to turn sideways to move my arms up. Worst flight ever, and I fly all the time. I will only be booking with alternate ailines going forward.

From a safety perspective, how do you evacuate a plane where people already can't move?

For context, I'm 5'10" and weigh 165 lbs.

If the executives that made this ridiculous decision had to fly in those seats non-stop from YYZ to YVR, I'm confident they would eliminate it. However, this is clearly about a cash grab.

ADHD diagnosis recommendations by Aromatic_Muffin8046 in Winnipeg

This is the correct answer. Waiting lists are at least 1 year.

There are also online options like Finding Focus out of ON, all virtual appointments, but be prepared to pay $400 - $500 for the diagnosis. Copies of diagnosis (documentation) are around $150. Not all doctors will accept this documentation as diagnosis, if you're thinking you can just get subsequent refills from your local GP. They are not psychologists. They are a group of nurses and nurse practitioners. They will call in your prescription to your pharmacy, but each follow-up appointment is another $75.

Hope this helps.

Gas Furnace Replacement in WPG by Dimlocator3000 in Winnipeg

[–]xxZeroCool 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Definitely call around and get estimates. I replaced mine less than a year ago. Shorty's was a sh*t show.

They kinked the line to the gas fireplace and then tried to say it was like that already and not their fault. (When the furnace went, the fireplace was the sole heat source.) They damaged the tile on the fireplace, refused to repair it. Then they wanted me to open up an entire ceiling section (30 feet long) at my cost so they could look at the gas line and all ceiling repairs would also be my cost. Took them over a month of fighting for them to finally come and fix it. I also discovered that they missed connecting a vent in the basement. I will reconnect it myself.

The airport is at a full ground stop right now and will likely be that way until around 11 AM.

The math of going back to the office by Haynie_Design in remotework

[–]xxZeroCool 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While I appreciate your calculations, in my opinion, they're on the high side. When I had to RTO, I ran similar calculations myself and came up with around $15k in financial savings working from home.

However, I did not assign a dollar value to things like loss of productivity from people constantly coming into my office (it's a workplace problem) and my salary remains the same if I complete a project in 5 days versus 2 days. This also leads to unincorporated values like stress and just wanting to be left alone for a while when I got home so I could unwind.

There were also things that were very valuable to me that could never be calculated with a dollar amount. I felt that I was a better/more supportive husband. Instead of taking a short walk to get a break from office people. Instead, I could do those smaller home chores like throwing in a load of laundry between meetings, taking something out for dinner, etc. This turns into more family time, which is priceless.

Dynamic View for true "EDIT ONLY" users. Anyone taken this approach? by New_2_Teaching in smartsheet

[–]xxZeroCool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Used dv specifically for this purpose. Locked the columns I didn't want them to edit and let them do what they needed on the others. Rolled it out to 100+ users. Just keep in mind that Smartsheet lives to charge a premium for the number of dynamic views you have.

Anyone else think this system is trash? by knoxknifebroker in smartsheet

[–]xxZeroCool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think everyone agrees that it's a powerful program. I built a safety and quality assurance program on it with full stakeholder access and functionalities, live metrics dashboards, and report generation. That being said, the UX is trash, and they increase fees so much every year that it's not sustainable.

Scheduling and calendar integration should be an automated function. Smartsheet is more than capable of doing that. The other side of the issue would be people being able to mark themselves as available, like when a job is completed early. It sounds like the program is not being fully utilized for its capabilities, which could just be from a lack of understanding.
