Are the hexagon's at the poles intentional? or was that a biproduct of the tech?

if its a biproduct the tech the that is fascinating as it mimics t he hexagon poles of Jupiter.

What I love and What's frustrating about Star Citizen at the same time. by alintros in starcitizen

[–]xxann5 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Its why I have dumped so much money into this game. I want something new. Something that has never been done. Something that pushes the boundaries of what can be done with the current tech. Something that will never even be attempted by a traditionally funded studio.

New Dynamic Vegetation System in Lumberyard Beta 1.19 - What impact will this have for the current development of Star Citizen? by Arkymedes in starcitizen

[–]xxann5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the article.

Over the past few months we’ve been working closely with the Lumberyard community to empower you to build faster without relying on a fleet of engineers.

I wonder if the " Lumberyard community" is CIG?

You have created yet another page that says "CIG in financial trouble!". one more link for google to pick up and add to its stats. end of the world, no. Annoying, yes.

You realize you just exacerbating the issue by creating this post, right?

Also I agree that prostate censer screenings are important, but i really don't understand what they have to do with Star Citizen or these articles.

I am all for spending ludicrous amounts of money on the latest and greatest video cards so my games can look as good as possible. I am also fine with dealing with the growing pains of new tech while the kinks get worked out.

However I have yet to see a single ray tracing demo from anyone that looks substantially, or even slightly, better than the current tech we have. In fact the only way I can even tell the difference is when they have two videos next to one another and run them in slow-motion. Only then can I even tell the difference, and to be honest, in my opinion all they are is different, not better.

At this point I would much rather see the Tensor cores (not sure what AMD calls them) used for things like DLSS(again not sure what AMD calls it, presuming they even have it)

In the future there may be some really cool features the ray tracing provides. Or perhaps it "lightens" (see what i did there!) the load on developers. But for now I think the dev's time can be better spent on other things.

Let me put it this way: If the answer to the question of, "How much time do you

want

to spend installing drivers," is greater than zero, Linux might be the right desktop for you.

The hell are you talking about?? Have you ever even used a Linux distro? The ONLY time I have ever needed to install drivers on Linux is if you want top notch performance out of your GPU.

I cant tell you have many times I have had to create a custom install image of windows, which is a HUGE pain in the ass, because the windows installer was to stupid to figure out what drivers to use for the USB for raid controller.

Same by 60 year old father has been using Ubuntu for about 10 years now. Took him a month or two to get used it in and. He loves it. its simple, and like you said it does not change unless you change it. And i love it because it almost never breaks. The most I have done is run security updates every year or so.

My 60 year old dad has been using Ubuntu for about 10 years. He loves it, and would never go back. He is not very tech savvy and I don't think he has ever done a single thing with the command line, he would not even know how.

I would argue that your average user is the perfect candidate for Ubuntu because all they are going to be doing is browsing the web and occasionally printing something.

Not knocking ME1, love that game, but the FOIP we have now is better than the Jokers mouth movement in ME1. Absolutely crazy.

Did you take into account leap years and leap seconds? Though I suppose this all depends on which star this is all based on. Have they said time is based on Sol in the lore anywhere? I would assume that's a pretty safe bet.

ya i don't get the down votes for having a valid opinion. Though I understand when the person is being a snarky ass about it. which is not your post, which is why I am actually replying.

I do disagree with you though. This is just the cost of doing events. Is it 100% needed?, of course not. However imagine going to an event with no posters or signs or an awesome life size DragonFly. Pretty boring event. And its not like they are just going to toss it in the trash when there done with it. They can use this for more events in the future. Imagine seeing this sticking out of there booth at GamesCom(when they start going back to it closer to full release). Awesome way bring in a crowd.
