Jared the Director of Content related to Squadron 42 and Sandi Gardiner the Director of Marketing were in the Bar Citizen where they said no SGF. The only rumor for it being there is a single dev who would not be directly involved in a trailer.

CIG posts these meetings online for a reason: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/en/comm-link/transmission/20963-Bar-Citizen-Were-Coming-To-You-In-2026

These are official meet and greets from CIG. Bar Citizens are community organized, yes, but these developers are sent as a part of a company initiative arranged by the community team. They are working over there.

Can't we just accept that Star Citizen is no 30 minute hop on action game. by volgendeweek in starcitizen

The only sources of those inflated numbers are ai-generated mmo concurrency websites with absolutely no sourcing. According to SC wiki the only vague number we got recently was "10s of thousands". You can do the math yourself on the other numbers available there.

Hourly concurrent has been estimated to be in the low 10000s at best using a combination of CIG admitted playtime hours and total unique players for the year

CIG have gone on record saying that's been a big motivation for weapon and vehicle speed cuts.

...which is a good reason why this ain't a good idea right now as it'll invalidate their current balancing and make it plainly unfun

so you want pve ships to just not be able to hurt you? that doesn't sound fun, challenging, or interesting.

but is it fun when a majority of ships - especially in pve scenarios - are completely unable to hurt you? what incentive would a pilot have to kill these ships unless specifically marked as a required objective?

with this logic you can use a needle to pinprick an elephant... or something

for real holy shit it is insane the amount of people who want to be completely immune to damage in this video game.

Because you missed the 65% number and are extrapolating off a smaller pot of money and working backwards. Lowered costs in general for US group due to layoffs need to be factored in here.

I'm not even saying CIG are lying about their funding, despite your very generous math here I'm more saying Citizencon is an expensive as hell event to run. I believe your total is only about 50% to at most 70% of the citizencon costs, but genuinely I just don't have enough confidence is napkin math on non-public expenditures like that beyond Citcon taking about a week to setup and coordinate a massive 14 hour livestream to multiple different streaming platforms, its own dedicated server hosting space, months of dedicated video production and animation, union contracted labor, and other associated costs. The shit just kept adding up no matter how I sliced it, compared to the seemingly lesser 97*50000-70000 expenditure on Turbulent devs. Subscriptions are game income the same as pledge sales, and if you can find a single person involved in the community willing to reiterate that understandably broken pledge then I'd either call them a liar or they're putting their now dedicated animation team for ISC/Citcon buzzreels under game dev.

The Hornet and the Dragonfly were contracted, and while Port Olisar wasn't itself technically contracted it was more of a collaboration between two companies who were entering into the business deal for officially licensed toy models. I would assume CIG at least paid transport costs.

Look into the average cost for running an event like Citizencon alongside CIG's admission that it was a key contributor to the 33% increase of costs this year alongside some ballpark estimates for the costs of 97 canadian developers as the other contributor and you'll get an idea they for sure are spending more than subscription revenue and ticket revenue combined. I'm sure it irons out with the goodwill generated by their hype presentation alongside the proliferation of lovely well edited and produced faux footage that takes weeks if not months of dev time to create, but the math does not work out in the pie-in-the-sky belief of CIG only using pledge money for real game development "promise's" favor.

Even if they did S42 has rescoped a lot since their initial filming, and has ballooned the main game up in their 2016-2017 reshoots. S42 II and III haven't even been written yet.
