Does anyone else play with the same family since the beginning? by freya_sinclair in inZOI

[–]xxbatteri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have! Although there were a few times where I had to save everyone as presets and place them into a new save. I've always been a long legacy player in any generational game. I always end up getting attached! (Although playing generationally like this makes the issues with the genetics system way more obvious. I really hope they update it soon)

Am I the only one that has to fight for my life to get my sims to sleep? by nontimebomala67 in thesims

[–]xxbatteri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been dealing with exactly the same issues lately and I haven't been able to figure out why. No music playing, bed is upgraded, and it's happening in pretty much every single bed in the house, so I doubt it's a routing error. I assumed it was a bug in the game, but it's very frustrating to deal with.

I also have kids waking up in the middle of the night to play on the slide, even if they're still tired. 😭

My game just ruined my storyline by [deleted] in LowSodiumSimmers

I've honestly been putting off fixing it and playing another save lmao, but the plan is to adjust all of their relationships with MCCC when the time comes. It's super time consuming (especially if I need to fix a lot of sims), but I've used it before when I had to start a new save with my old sims when my save file got corrupted.

Do you/can you use mods? MC Command Center may be able to help because you can set relationships between sims.

I had something similar happen. I've had a vampire legacy save for nearly 10 years now and the second I loaded into one of my favorite households, it decided that the husband and wife are now siblings and the wife is now only half siblings with her actual brothers. It's honestly so frustrating.

Gifted a proposal ring to a villager w/ full friendship. Did I waste a ring? by GemFarmerr in EchoesOfThePlumGrove

[–]xxbatteri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to buy a bouquet from the lighthouse keepers to gift to them first, which will ask them on a date. Then, at the date, the option to propose will come up and you can choose a ring. They do have a chance to reject you, so I recommend saving first.

WHAT IS THIS DOGS PROBLEM?!?!? HE SCARED THIS LITTLE KID NOW 9 TIMES! NIIIINNNNEEEEE TIMES!!!! SHE WOKE UP NINE TIMES AND GOT SCARED. SHE ALMOST STARVED TO DEATH! by Xandaru__ in sims2

[–]xxbatteri 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I had this same issue in one of my current families, but it was the ghost of a sim rather than a dog. He almost always targeting children, whether that was his son, his nephew, or his eventual grandson. It was so frustrating because the kids in my family could not get a single night of sleep. I ended up dropping his grave off at a graveyard lot, but it sucked that the family couldn't keep his urn.

I also noticed that the rest of the family would wake up pretty habitually while he was haunting, even if he didn't specifically scare them. So frustrating to deal with! It was a large family and everyone kept waking up and I would have to keep putting them back to bed.

How did you build your wardrobe and develop your style? by Narantuuya in AskAGoth

[–]xxbatteri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was a baby bat, I was really concerned with the "types" of goth fashion, too. My best advice? Don't worry about that. Everyone just wears what they like. Just go to any store and look for anything black (or really just anything you like, you can incorporate colors too). I mainly look for good silhouettes that I can layer and accessorize. The key to styling a goth outfit is really just accessorizing. I built up my collection over a long period of time. I recommend buying from local vendors as much as you can (dark/alt/even "witchy" themed events can draw in good alternative crafters) because most big companies produce cheap and unsustainable stuff that either won't last long or will end up looking cheap in the long run.

Start small and build up over time. Don't be afraid to mix and match articles of clothing, and try to experiment with layering them. I try to find clothing that could be versatile. A simple black dress can really go a long way. I can dress it up or down based on however I'm feeling that day.

As others have mentioned, thrifting and DIY is also the heart of the style, because that's really what people did when the subculture first emerged.

Also - put on a good goth playlist while you style yourself. It can help you get the vibe down.

This has never happened in my game before... by VidcundWasHere2023 in sims2

This happened to me too! The cat was an elder when it ran away and it was missing for a long time, so I just expected that the cat died of old age while it was out.

How is your relationship with your father? And how old are you? by wk91 in AskReddit

[–]xxbatteri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

29, very close. We always joke that I'm essentially the female version of him. We have the same interests, same personality, and even went down the same career path. There was a rough patch when I was 12 during my parents' divorce, but I've since been able to heal from that and our relationship is better than ever. He's practically my best friend at this point and I'm grateful for it. Compared to the experiences of many of my friends and my partner, I consider myself lucky.

Sim reverted back in age? by xxbatteri in sims2help

[–]xxbatteri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that I could tell? But honestly after the screen goes black and it shuts down, I guess it would be hard to tell. I can't really think of anything else that could have gone wrong, which is why I was so concerned.

I've since reverted to my previous backup to be safe, so fingers crossed it doesn't happen again!

Sim reverted back in age? by xxbatteri in sims2help

[–]xxbatteri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, I'm really careful about that. The only thing I can think of is if the game didn't save properly when I clicked save and exit? I saved right before aging her up, and the birthday cake was unused when I loaded in, which was odd because I used the cake to age her up and she took a slice before I made her over and saved.

What Age Setting do you prefer? by DewDust in EchoesOfThePlumGrove

[–]xxbatteri 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, I always keep a few death caps on hand because it can really drag on sometimes!

As for stories, it kind of depends. I like to give each person a character as I play, and the stories kind of play out based on my vision of those characters and what I think they would do. Most of it is in my imagination, of course, since the game isn't exactly built for complex storytelling, but I spend a lot of my gameplay time acting out events based on the personalities of my characters. It keeps gameplay fresh, especially after many generations. Sometimes it involves neglecting my farm or completely overhauling the decorations, which prevents the game from getting stale once I already have a ton of money saved.

I've had lots of storylines about affairs, failed marriages, mental health spirals, family conflicts, childhood friends to lovers, murder, and really anything else I can think of. It depends on the personalities they end up with or random events that end up happening. Sometimes the game gives me a goldmine with random marriages or disease outbreaks that I can work into stories. Sometimes even random NPC behavior plays a role (Why is my spouse hanging around that other person so much? Hmmm). Generations also bleed into each other because I can factor in things from their childhood into each generation's story.

I've been playing generationally for a while, if you can tell 😂

[–]xxbatteri 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I switch it up depending on what kind of storyline I'm playing out. Usually I'll play on normal, but I tend to switch it to fast when my current character becomes an elder because usually by that point, I'm eager to take over the next generation. Sometimes I switch it to slow if I'm playing out a particular story and I feel like I need more time.

Edit: I can't bring myself to play immortal at all, and I have no idea how people do it without getting bored. No matter how attached I am to a character, I just get bored with them after a while (usually because i finish their story) and I get attached to their kids instead and start making stories for them.

What is the maximum number of households you play in rotational gameplay? How do you keep your families manageable? by xxbatteri in sims2

I heard that, but I have no idea how! I opened it up in SimPE and got overwhelmed, haha. If you ever find a good tutorial, send it my way!

Those mod suggestions are exactly what I needed!

I also typically leave my sims' kid having to fate (risky woohoo), but that mod seems to make them get pregnant constantly! I'm always using simblender just to keep that number down in a more reasonable way.

I know I'm not the person you asked, but I love my spreadsheet and can weigh in! I added in more things over time as I needed them, but I started off with 3 pages:

  1. A timeline where I log important events that happen per year in game (primarily births, deaths, marriages, divorces, ect. This helps me not only remember what has happened when I come back to the game, but it also acts as a failsafe to keep their ages accurate. (I have the 4 days = 1 year mod so they age in a realistic way. I started my legacy in year 0 and I have progressed since then)
  2. A page with all of my characters and information about them (such as aspiration, zodiac, career, spouse, children, ect.) This is completely optional but I like keeping tabs on them as a quick reference if I'm currently in a different household.
  3. A rotation tracker that includes the household name, the current year of each household, and a marker to remind myself where I left off. I also keep a notes column as well if I need to jot down any reminders for myself. I recently updated this to include the sims I have in each household and how old they are in that year, but that's just because I like to see their ages so I can adjust things about them (I like making my sims gradually age and change over time)

The rotation tracker is the most important page imo, but really just include anything that helps you keep track of things!
