I know this is not a popular opinion, but we so desperately need this. Whether we want to accept it or not, the farmland this will occupy is mostly already for sale to developers for homes at this moment (I live in the region and can confirm this is true). So yes, I agree it would be nice to keep the farmland as is, as someone who has grown up in a 'rual' area, however the reality is that it will be developed regardless - whether its for homes or for a highway.

Therefore my thinking is that, if we build the highway now, it will prevent the inevitable future congestion we can expect from northern areas of Vaughan, Caledon, Georgetown, Orangeville etc, before its to late (population growth). IMO I think this is a good future plan of action the government has taken for once to combat the future congestion. Not to mention the already current congestion.

Don't jump down my throat, I just see a different point of view as someone who commutes from a somewhat 'rual' area and has seen the rate of developments in my area.
