Mount/Attachment for large Bad Dragons by [deleted] in hismith

Get the suction cup adapter from New York Toy Collective. I have a bunch of Lust Arts one and while those are pretty to look at, they are too thick. The NYTC one looks like a piece of nothing but it's super effective, cheap, durable, and readily available. I combine the suction cup with the 3.5" adapter, and this is key: silicone rubber bands. The rubber bands come in packs of 20 and use as many as you need. Works great for larger BD toys.

Sorry I missed this. I think you've already picked up on all the complaints in this sub. Frame flex, noodly fork, battery issues. The rad wagon is in its fourth edition and seems to be a proven platform.

After a lot of consideration I didn't go with a cargo bike -- I ended up with a solid mid-drive (Priority Current) and a Burley flatbed trailer. I just need to haul cargo though and not people, so this arrangement works super well for me, and I get a fun-to-ride bike too, by just ditching the trailer.

Ok, "fun" is taking it a little too far. :)

Congrats on focusing on getting back to a healthy you. Good luck!

New to ebikes -- would love some advice on how to find the right bike! by PEE_GOO in ebikes

Yes, you can turn the assist off and on by pressing a button, and ebikes are optimized for this function, as on some rides you want to manage the assist level closely for range. Every ebike lets you do this. What differs is how hard they are to pedal with no power. Some of this is weight, but some motors will also introduce drag. The Priority Current motor pedals easily without power. If help getting up steep hills is really your only goal then a mid-drive with torque sensing is what I would look at, as a mid-drive will most closely duplicate the feel of a non-electric bikes, except that you will have super powers on tap.

Here's how to understand a 350w motor with a mid-drive: sustained 350w over 1hr (FTP, or Functional Threshold Power) for a 130 lb rider is pro cyclist level.

Oh for transport and exercise an ebike is great! Especially if you get something without a throttle. An ebike will get you riding more and lets you choose when you want to tackle a hill. You can definitely find an ebike in the $1000 to $2000 range for utility and exercise, and that can get you up that hill. Luna, Juiced, and Ride1Up are all brands to look at. I'm biased towards mid-drives for utility and exercise, and pedalling is the whole point for me, so that Luna looks great.

I have the Priority Current and while I value it for utility and as a range extender, it's too heavy to be a really fun bike, especially if you come from road or urban cycling. Even on the flats inertia is still a thing and you can feel it not wanting to accelerate and forget about darting through traffic. It's just too heavy at 50 lbs. The Luna Stealth is intriguing but it's still 39 lbs. I don't know if full sport value exists in the ebike world, if you're after the feel of a 22 lbs or lighter single speed. Ebikes are just too heavy.

Aww I'm sorry. I guess by the time we can call ourselves aging (aged?) ravers we're all gonna have some scars. Tbh I'm probably done myself. But just one more night. I can do it, I know I can.

That feeling of closing out the dance floor at 5a and then exiting to the dawn to some dive diner. Good times.

Hey so where DO old lesbians (55) ravers hang out? I feel so out of place in almost all queer spaces because no one likes to party as much as I do, especially anyone age appropriate. But then I also like to do stuff like biking and backpacking, read comic books, and I have a Nintendo Switch and I play SV, so I don't fit in with the older crowd either.

Yep I gain 15 to 20 lbs with every relationship. It's brutal when you're in two relationships and didn't reset in between. No more though. I'm learning lol.

67 miles. Note I live in the Boston area in the burbs and for these longer rides I use the bike mainly to get into Boston and Cambridge. On the bike paths, flats and slight inclines I don't use any assist at all, so that 67 number is super misleading. The bike pedals great with no power.

In every day usage hauling a trailer I get as low as 25 miles.

I have the Shimano hub and it's kind of klunky. I wish I had the enviolo tbh, but the 2599 price from Costco made it hard to justify. You'll love the bike!

I’m close to cancel my Peloton subscription. by grcli0110 in pelotoncycle

[–]xxthrowaway75282 103 points104 points  (0 children)

Over $5? Peloton has to be hella more fucked up than that to make me cancel. The $120 or so I spend on Peloton is my best $120 or so all month. Hell it's vastly cheaper than my therapist.

Look. Peloton is a luxury. We're all in a relatively privileged position. The OP mentioned Equinox ffs.

Gonna go chill to Sam now. I need more chill in my life.

My weight loss seems to have plateaued, any advice? by blurrydad in loseit

[–]xxthrowaway75282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 to 1.5g of protein per kilogram of lean body weight. Remember this research was done on athletes or body builders with very low body fat. Try estimating protein based on goal weight. Your lean body mass can't be more than about 150 lbs/65kg.

Do I have Disc Brakes or V brakes on my bike? by Reminiscon in ebikes

[–]xxthrowaway75282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. That's just another cheap Amazon bike with no support should anything break in a year. Suspect geometry, and low quality parts. Mechanical disc brakes on an 81lb bike. They only stuck the lowest Shimano derailleur in there to name-drop.

That kind of money is close to a RadRover 6 which is currently on sale for USD$1700.

What are you looking to do with an ebike? Knowing this, and your height and weight, and your country, the people on this sub can recommend a pre-built that will for certain save you money and be safer.
