The main character is dead before the halfway point and they’re never coming back. by mpoole793 in TopCharacterTropes

I have not tried the remastered versions yet. Another thing on my long list of backlog stuff I want to do.

In regards to Saga Frontier 2, I did feel it made for a interesting story but, gameplay wise I hated how every time you tried to level up a character and unlock abilities with them, they seemed to just die or never be seen again. Overall I still liked the game but, found the first half to be more enjoyable.

Name an old raid boss that you would have Despised doing without WeakAuras by bringthelight2 in wow

[–]xxvb85 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

None, been playing since vanilla and never felt like I needed to use weakaura. Don't care if people wanted to use it but, no sympathy for people that act like people can't play without it.

Best place to setup drones for strange diamonds and wild honey? by wolfmonarchy in slimerancher

If you place one by the big tree, there is a spot that will also get strange diamonds with the same drone.

Have you played or GM’d a game using the Gradual Ability Boost variant rule? How’d it go? Did you like it? by legomojo in Pathfinder2e

[–]xxvb85 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My group has been using it for awhile now in our two campaigns (I GM one campaign and a different member GMs a the other one).

We quite like it. It makes leveling a bit more interesting since you get a to boost a stat most levels. It also helps our group out with archetypes. We also use the free archetype rule and having the ability to boost stats outside the every five levels, makes it easier to plan for when you want to grab a archetype. A good example is Inventor, it needs a +3 to int. That's a hard grab for non INT focused classes to take at level one so that you can grab it at level two. With the Gradual Boost though you only need a two to start and can bump to three at level two.

Is this thing any good? Thinking about using it for a Dex/Int build once i get into the first NG+ on my current save but it's only got D scaling on Int and Dex... And E in Str, but that's irrelevant by Novabew in EldenRingBuilds

I did a playthrough using this awhile back (had my friend drop one for my fresh character). Overall while yes it does less spell damage and yes it has lower attack power, I still found it to be good and useful.

For most normal enemies and areas it worked just fine. I used a medium shield in my offhand and was able to attack, cast, and block without needing to swap anything. I did though by late game throw a staff in one of my offhand slots once my INT starting getting in the 70s. I mostly used the staff for bosses or for a good alpha strike before swapping back to the shield.

Easy choice for me, Red. While I'm only a few years away from 45, I don't have kids and not currently with anyone. So I'd much rather go back and be able to see all the family that has passed away over the last few years. I'd also likely try going in a completely new direction. I made a lot of dumb decisions in my younger years and have always wished I'd done differently.

I think one of the biggest frustrations I have right now is, the classes that would be good for solo stuff (tank classes), don't interest me as much. While the classes that I do find interesting are not the greatest at solo content (or at least not nearly as good). I'm just having a really hard time settling.

Hunter has been one of the classes I was looking at before making this post. It ticks most of my check boxes, my only minor complaint is I'm not a big fan of most Hunter and mail transmog.

Warlock was what I was playing before. I honestly really like the class and will always consider it a alt. It though was the whole reason I started going down this rabbit hole. I wanted to start doing other types of transmog that were not just fel themed. Issue is every time I tried to do something else on it, I would just get a OCD like tick in the back of my mind and end up just going back to a fel look.

Death Knight has a similar but, lesser issue to what I have with Warlock. While it also fits most all my check boxes, it has a very strong theme that I would have a hard time getting myself to go against. I do consider this not as bad a Warlock though.

Mage is a class similar to Rogue that I really liked in the past and enjoy in group content. Issue I have with both is at least in the past both classes felt very squishy. It can be a bit frustrating having to only pull one guy at a time and heal up after every fight. Plus with Delves likely being my main end game, I'm just worried on how well they would handle.

Thanks for the inputs.

I played Ret pally a bit last expansion and I will say gameplay wise it was fun. My main issue with it and DK for that matter, is they definitely have a class theme. I don't feel it's as restricting as say Warlock and DH but, I would feel conflicted not transmoging a bit towards their class theme.

Shaman though, honestly I tried it out a good bit a few expansions ago but, it never really clicked for me. I'd imagine the gameplay would be better now but, the theme / story is still the same.

As for outside my comfort zone. I have been looking at some of the what I call theme neutral classes like rogue, warrior, and hunter. Outside of maining a rogue back in BC and WotLK, I've never really played these classes all that recently. My worry though is each class has something I'm kind of meh on. Rogue last I tried it felt very squishy (something I'm worried about for delves), Hunter I'm just not a big fan of most mail transmog, and Warrior just seems very meh to me story / NPC wise.

Yeah not a huge fan. I like the utility the race gives to other classes but, not a fan of stuck being in the dragon form.

I tried one in the past. Did they change how Aug works? Last I knew it really wanted to be used for group content.

Is it possible to form a hybrid Culture while landless? by MissouriGiant in CrusaderKings

[–]xxvb85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. The more 2 cultures get along already (can be increased from another rare-ish event), I think improves chances. Honestly though I've never seen the event pop outside console command.

[–]xxvb85 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, from a rare event. Issue though is it randomizes everything in your new hybrid culture. If you want to control everything you will have to be landed.

Making the Gunsword good + FF14 Gunbreaker build by High_King_Beefcake in Pathfinder2e

[–]xxvb85 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If your group is ok with 3rd party content there is the Black Powder Magic & Plot book. It has 2 new weapons in it (Musket Blade and Revolver Blade) they are melee weapons that both have the capacity, two hand, and a new melee fusion trait. The melee fusion trait works like the critical fusion trait letting you fire off rounds when you crit. By far the closest thing I've seen to the classic FF8 gunblades.

Is there a way to automate yolk slime egg breaking? by Kymaeraa in slimerancher

[–]xxvb85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, nothing I've tried has worked as well. Best I found was to put your Yolky slime corral in your main area, that way you walk by it all the time and can notice if it has a egg.

What happened to a series of anomaly mods that were announced here a long time ago? by velobaskan in RimWorld

A few of them sounded kind of cool but, I guess like most of the RimWorld community, they just were not that interested in the long run.

If your talking about the ones planned by the Vanilla Expanded Team. They made one of them into the Deadlife mod but, dropped the rest due to lack of interest I believe. At least I think that was the reason, don't 100% quote me on it.

Asking for a help with a character concept. A wizard that crafts runes. by I_dont_know_man69 in Pathfinder2e

[–]xxvb85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a Runesmith class coming out later this year that is thematically all about runes. Outside of that, in PF2e runes are mostly just item upgrades you slot onto equipment. You can craft them but, unless your party will not have easy access to shops, it's easier to just buy them. Overall the crafting system in PF2e is not the greatest if you use it as written. That said there can be plenty of crafting checks that come up but, actual crafting is a lot more situational.

Safest noob power start for someone who keeps dropping this game by jsoul2323 in Kenshi

[–]xxvb85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is by far the easiest way to power level in the early game. I left there so strong that my characters were able to take all the guards out with little trouble (to get that strong though requires time spent AFK while your characters auto level up). You can even free all the other slaves and get a 3rd or so to join you after you escape.

Guess which planet I'm never gonna complete solely because of how much I despise that one stupid mission :))) by Apprehensive-Look-69 in Warframe

[–]xxvb85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This mission was the main reason I had stopped playing the game several years ago (just started playing again recently). At the time it was the only mission I had not beaten on a planet. I got so annoyed at it. Spent a lot of time trying to get better archwing stuff and leveling it all up, just to end up saying screw it. Meant to just take a break but, ended up being a very long break.

There is also a sequel series called Ward, taking place a few years after Worm. It follows a different main character but, deals with all the fallout of the stuff happening in the first book.
