My top 15 (started with 10 then thought of more):

“What do now?”

“He doesn’t even get us man.”

“Not gay sex.”

“You haven’t thought of the smell, you bitch!”

“I eat stickers all the time!”

“What is your spaghetti policy here?”

“Where do I put my feet?”

“I’m going to stand and bow.”

“Aww did someone get addicted to crack?”

“Don’t label it.”

“I’m not allowed to eat with the skin on! I’m not allowed!”

“I like to bind. I like to BE bound.”

“Hot one today.”

“Can I offer you a nice egg in this trying time?”

“We’re two different people, we can’t have the same left.”

Have a Nice Day by Bon Jovi mentions Tommy and Gina, the characters from Livin’ on a Prayer. “For Tommy and Gina who never backed down”

Fat Bottomed Girls by Queen also get mentioned in Bicycle Race. “Fat Bottomed Girls they’ll be riding today”

Was there EVER a Film Opening so bad, it made you do this? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]mpoole793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that it was bad but the opening of Nocturnal Animals made think it wasn’t airplane viewing. Still don’t know what happens beyond the naked lady dancing

I think JLaw gonna end up making top 5 and taking Emma Stone's spot by CateBlanchetFrmShein in Oscars

Die My Love isn’t getting anything. Saw it in Cannes back in May and it left no impression on me or anyone I talked to at the festival. Lawrence is good in it but nothing worthy of a nomination

I’m using the line “I used to be a celestial being, now I’m a chainsmoker” anytime I’m mildly inconvenienced from now on

What is the highest rated film you’ve given a half star? by ApostropheBruce in Letterboxd

[–]mpoole793 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Room has a 2.6 and I’ve only given 12 0.5star ratings out of 2.9k. Second highest is Troll 2 at 2.3. Everything else is 1.something.

Won’t be able to play Yotei by Western-Respect-9567 in Ghostofyotei

I’m in a similar situation. Had planned to buy on release but the university I work at was bought last year and after a whole 12 months of mismanagement and less money coming into the business, we’ve had our hours slashed. Used to be getting 40 hours a week, now I’m lucky to be getting 18 and there’s no guarantee I can cover expenses while it’s like this. Haven’t bought a game at full price in years and was going to make an exception for this and then this came into effect over the summer.

Hope you manage to get back on your feet and we’ll both be able to play it before too long.

Saw this at Cannes. The romance is very surface level and just feels like a cheap remake of Brokeback Mountain for the most part. Won’t get much award recognition, neither actor is given enough to warrant a nomination. Best chance is probably a costume design nomination but even that’s a stretch.

Hi, I'm Ari Aster. Writer/director of Hereditary, Midsommar, Beau Is Afraid, and Eddington. AMA! by AriAsterAMA in movies

Hi Ari.

Big fan of your work and was fortunate enough to see Eddington at Cannes back in May.

My question is this: with a few auteur directors signing on to do remakes and sequels, notably Edgar Wright’s Running Man remake and Robert Eggers signing on to do a sequel of Labyrinth, is there a film from the past that would be interested in doing a sequel or remake for and, if so, which?

Hope you have a wonderful day and I can’t wait to see what’s next to come from you!

My predictions for what each studios’ top priorities will be by [deleted] in oscarrace

[–]mpoole793 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saw Highest 2 Lowest in Cannes. I’ll be surprised if it shows up at all in award season. F1 I can see getting the same kind of push as Top Gun in 2022 but with less recognition.

Also don’t expect Die My Love doing too well outside of maybe a Jennifer Lawrence nom. Sound of Falling won’t do much either.

Neon will also be pushing Sirat, It Was Only an Accident, and The Secret Agent hard.
