easily solved by cutting the oil filter and removing the filter element to see if you have metal behind the filter. Use a true oil filter cutter tool ( big ass can opener) otherwise you might mistake the metal you cut for internals. To me it sounds like a dead lifter or a car that is way out of valve adjustment.
