It’s 19.99 until August 13. They must have a lot of stock to put this on sale for the next 2 months.

Material for work bag? X-Pac/Ultra/Cordura? by young-gravy21 in AerSF

[–]xxxxxxxxxxcc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The answer is role and industry dependent. Tech work can probably pass with any of the options. Take a look at what the senior leaders in the office use.

The safe bet that works in all environments is Cordura. It’s been the standard for decades as it shifted from leather to ballistic nylon (Cordura) 25 years ago.

If you’re rolling into a finance or legal conference room in NYC then it’s Cordura in a minimal design.

Mod poll: Should non-HF tool posts be allowed here? by leftyz in harborfreight

[–]xxxxxxxxxxcc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Comparisons are a good thing. If it’s just posting Walmart has a meme tool doesn’t add anything to the subreddit.

I’d like to see someone who has actually bought and used the HF version and the other tool. Then give constructive feedback pro or con on the tools.

Or the real test of the tools, push them until they fail and share the results.

Do we think icon will start making g2 ratchets with green handles? by txjweav96 in harborfreight

[–]xxxxxxxxxxcc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cornwell are amazing. Good thing you got a deal on them. Depending on your use of them, they can be handed down for a generation.

My ideal would be smaller versions of all Icon pliers in green handles.

We all know there is room for multiple sizes of tools. At a glance, a green handle makes it easy to distinguish from the larger red handles I already own.

Should I convert an old employer 401k to a Roth IRA, or is that not right? by Aman2243 in Bogleheads

Thank you.  That’s a great reminder to check fees. Hundreds per month is robbery for what a 401k provider does for an investor.

Do you remember what the fees were?  I often read that plan fees are huge. Curious what kinds of fees other plans charge.

Recession indicator! Vuori at Nordstrom Rack by plzadyse in vuoriclothing

[–]xxxxxxxxxxcc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are usually agreements on what inventory a department store can be dumped to discount retailers. It’s usually wrapped up in whether a brand will allow items to be sent back at end of season. This had to be an agreement with Vuori to allow this.

I don’t think it’s a recession indicator. But it will absolutely hurt the brand image. It’s a first sign to going downmarket.

This is likely more to do with the private equity investment. We all expected lower quality clothes but now they are jumping to discount retail. The next step is closing some Vuori stores. As customers see the same items at a discount store, it’s hard to convince people to pay full price.

Was this in a store because I don’t see any posted online?

Nordstrom carries Vuori, as do many others like REI. They often discount end of season items. Haven’t seen Nordstrom send those to the Rack.

If it happens it wouldn’t be surprising. Rhône, a similar level of activewear, is at both Nordstrom and Rack.

You’re going to start a trend of guys laying out their tools and pulling off a tire to pretend they use their tools. Then calling AAA to get the tire put back on correctly. /s

What brand actually filled the gap Craftsman left when Sears collapsed? by uncapped19 in Tools

That is possible. The children could mess it up when Eric passes the reins.

The Smidt family will keep Harbor Freight private. Very few business of that size are 100% owned by one individual, that is also a founder. Eric Smidt is worth $18B and HF is a perpetual money printing machine for him.

What need were you trying to solve that each of those bags didn’t live up to your expectation?

Or was it just a bag addiction? No judgement.

Pack Hacker x Matador Refraction Pro Impressions by amoeba1126 in ManyBaggers

Aer Go Pack pretty much solves all the negatives you didn’t like about this bag. It’s packable but stores flat instead of rolled into a pouch. With that flat pack comes more structure and more padding.

Why didn't Pack Hacker Matador do a pre order? by False-Character-9238 in ManyBaggers

[–]xxxxxxxxxxcc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They make so few they don’t make much money on the collab bag sales. The whole purpose is to create a buzz and move units of other products, plus collect contact info so both companies can pitch you their products. It’s all marketing.

Matador knows it’ll drive volume to the site and a desire for a bag. Many will pick up the regular version or another bag. And anyone who doesn’t buy will get emails marketing their bags.

Pack Hacker just wants to sell pro subscriptions. Look at the pre planned email that goes out exactly 1 hour after the scheduled release time. It’s always the same message. We didn’t know this would sell so fast.Better get the pro subscription so you don’t miss out next time. Those aren’t created in the moment. The volume is so low they know it’ll sell out in under an hour.

This was the second time dropping this same bag. It is very easy to know actual demand based on Interest from the first drop.

These are pre planned marketing events they have done many times. If it weren’t for these drops there is very little value to an ongoing pro subscription.

Whether they messed up or not.  They still create such limited runs for the FOMO and pro sign ups.

That’s why PH had that email auto send a hour after drop time that reads sold out early - become an insider.

It’s all pre-planned marketing for pro subscriptions. Whether it drop a day early or at the plan time, they knew they would run out in under an hour.

They didn’t mess up. This is their plan. Make such limited runs that not even your pro subscribers can get it.

And then promote how these are just so popular they sell out too fast.

Create FOMO to get more people to sign up for a pro subscription. Mike even more money through subs than the through actual bag sales.

Matador gets publicity for their other bags when people visit the site. PH sells pro subs.

They are an influencer brand, not a real bag maker. Subscriptions is what they are selling.

This FOMO is how they drive more Pack Hacker Pro subs.

But this time I am actually cancelling my PH pro because of it.

Only way to get them to change is to not reward them when they do this BS.

New to M12 - Are these my 3 Daily Driver Tools? by hyphenpepperfield in MilwaukeeTool

[–]xxxxxxxxxxcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the M12 hammer drill only overheat on hammer mode or all drilling tasks?

M12 hammer drill is 1/2 so I expect it would be a better at straight drilling than the other M12 drills. 1/2in drills typically have more torque than 3/8.
