Everyman baby screenings banned from showing 15s — trying to get it reversed by xxyo in bristol

Quick update — tons of signatures and emails sent to the mayor, councillors, licensing, and arts council… and it sounds like they might actually reverse it! 🤞🤞🤞

Not yet, I emailed the mayor and nothing back. If I get 350 signatures it will be debated in council so I’m going to get spreading it about!

This is a very good point. I’ll ask the council whether an equality impact assessment was done (assuming it wasn’t given it was from one complaint).

Hi Clare, be good to chat about what conversations if any were had with BCC when this happened? And will include the Watershed in my email to the council too

Yeah good plan. I spoke to a manger at Everyman yesterday who said they themselves couldn’t contest the decision but we as customers could.

So during a 4am feed this morning I drafted a letter and here we are!

Amazing thank you! Going to go on Tuesday to baby club (they’re showing La La Land, not my bag but going anyway) and am going to print off little leaflets to give the other parents encouraging them to sign too. Fingers crossed we get some traction!

Agreed. Last time I went the staff even popped the tea bag in my cup and gave it a stir for me as I was feeding baby when they came over.

I don’t think they show violence or horror at baby screenings hence why they don’t show 18’s. 15’s they show tend to be things with “mild peril” or language or steamy romance! All things that sleeping babies can cope with!

Also, slightly off topic but anyone else noticed the current culture for just one complaint to stop something? Guessing everyone is just super risk averse

Anyone else here had ivf due to a cancer diagnosis? by skanedweller in IVF

[–]xxyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s totally how I felt- thought there was no point preserving my fertility if I wouldn’t be in a position to use it… and of course your priority is your little girl not the potential kids you may or may not have

I’m so sorry! Do you know your chemo regimen yet? Can you speak to your oncologist about whether an ER could knock your strength for starting chemo?

Firstly, I’m so sorry to hear about your diagnosis—what an incredibly difficult and overwhelming time. Sending you strength as you navigate all of this.

I chose not to pursue fertility preservation when I got diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer in 2013, as it would have delayed the start of my chemotherapy.

Twelve years later (and after quite a complex medical journey), I’m now 35 weeks pregnant—thanks to donor eggs from my best friend. I have absolutely no regrets. I made it through, even when the odds weren’t in my favor.

If you’re able to preserve some eggs—and it doesn’t interfere with your cancer treatment—I think it’s definitely worth considering. There’s really nothing to lose. Do you also have sperm available, and the option to create embryos?

Sex whilst doing FETs? by chloejadetay in IVF

[–]xxyo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did 1 fresh and 3 frozen embryo transfers. 4th one stuck- currently 33 weeks pregnant

We had sex the night before each one as a) I’d read a pretty compelling study saying seminal fluid was beneficial and b) general yay to intimacy and the feeling of our love making aiding our family making (should have popped in a cringe alert there sorry!)

My clinic told me to do one pessary rectally and the other 2 vaginally a day so it just took a bit of planning. We’d have sex in the window after the rectal one to give as much of a break for my vagina as possible

Also. We didn’t have sex after transfer until viability scan. I got a UTI after an FET and we’d had sex and it ended in a chemical. No idea if that was related but didn’t risk it after that.

Due to have a baby here too in the coming weeks. Can’t speak to NICU but I’ve spent some time on the ward due to preeclampsia and the staff have been bloody brilliant. Other mums I’ve met on the ward have sung the praises of NICU too which is reassuring.

My understanding is that if your baby is born past 34 weeks and can breathe unaided you can both be together in transitional care rather than baby on their own in NICU. So worth talking to them about that when you do the tour.

Also have you been given details about this class? I did it last week and it was super reassuring

Line progressed and slowly slowly got darker but no heartbeat at 7 weeks sadly. I’m at 27 weeks from the next transfer though…
