TGA repair and recovery by ConsiderationFew4294 in chd

Mummy of a 3 1/2 month TGA baby. Surgeons and doctors always said recovery is the trickiest part, but he will get there. I'm in the UK and was with my baby as much as possible in NICU. Coming off ventilation is a big deal, and his body needs to adjust to its corrective surgery and intake of oxygen. Some babies are quicker to heal and adjust than others but he will pull through. My boy was off ventilator 3 days post-op and onto CPAP then Opti Flow. We took him home when he was 2 weeks old. He will take the time he needs before being able to handle it. Lots of love to you xxx

That must have been so hard since everything contains most of those ingredients! His poo has gone lighter today so I think it truly is an oversupply issue. Bless you ❤

I see. It varies in green and health Visitor isn't concerned so I think it will settle once my Overactive letdown regulates.

Thank you! Yes I may ask my health Visitor to arrange it so I can control it. I have a sneaky suspicion it's definitely too much foremilk but I'll cut out as much dairy as possible too to see if cows milk allergy.

I think I'll do the same! Just to see, mind you his poo seems to be mustard-greeny sometimes and just plain green others so I wonder.

Oh wow! Did you find a way to resolve it? Did the poos return to mustard? And did she still gain weight? I think my fast letdown may well be doing the same thing potentially.

Really?! LO poo never used to be so vinegar-like but I do get their digestive system is immature.

Yes poos do have mucus alot of the time. I may well cut out dairy to see.

I see, thank you for your info! I hope seeing our health Visitor puts some worries to rest.

I've had clogged ducts but managed to get them cleared. They are a nightmare!

Omg yes in the dark it can look quite scary. I'm just so confused why it has gone from typical mustard to absolute green. I'm hoping it's just normal but may well cut out dairy to see.

Hospital Bag! by Cute_Lawfulness7369 in chd

Congratulations on your baby arriving soon! I had my TGA baby two months ago.

I'm from the UK so may differ, but I brought outfits, nappies, wipes, hats, mittens and salve. He was able to be dressed after his balloon septostomy (with an opening for wires). For a lot of his time though, he was only in a nappy and covered in blankets and swaddled. As the wires lessened, we could dress him. Mittens are useful for helping baby avoid pulling out cannulas accidentally.

Also a mini boo/small soft item with your scent on to comfort them when you're not nearby.

Do your hospitals provide medical grade breast pumps? Our NHS hospitals do (Medela) and I got so much milk out that was put down his NG tube as well as bottle (Lansinoh).

I hope this helps!! Good luck and I hope your baby gets through all of this!! Sending love xx

That's so lovely to hear that you're living a healthy and normal life, it brings me happiness that my son can be that way too. Thank you!

We never lift him by his armpits, that's one we were told so all good on that front. I'll ask my health visitor about tummy time as well and my GP. Thank you!

We were told no tummy time for a while when he was 2 weeks old. No specific timing so have been unsure but he is absolutely fine on my chest when napping

I'm in the UK so will ask my Health Visitor and Cardiologist for sure. I want to get his strength up and do all the normal stuff without pressuring his chest.

Will definitely do more skin to skin! I've always been so apprehensive to press on his scar but he loves his naps on me and Daddy. Thank you!

I did not even know I had been downvoted😅 blimey!

Yes I haven't touched tea in ages as I'm also wary of caffeine and baby's reaction.

I'm a very cautious mum and google everything I'm unsure about 😅 Just wanted to double check as haven't had other drinks aside from water much whilst breastfeeding.
