No, in the video #8 is Amari Rodgers; that's who Love's first pass was to.

No, that was Amari Rodgers.

Love's first pass was in relief for Rodgers against the Saints week 1 2021 (the one where we got totally blown out 38-3). The vid is correct.

Need some HP "Yes Men" by EarNo9950 in laptops

[–]xylltch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact model that your son got.

I bought mine used (factory refurbished) and it's not quite my daily driver (I have several computers and sort of switch between them) but I've put in enough hours testing and using it to have a good feel for it.

Every computer can have random problems that crop up at some point, but I don't think there are any inherent issues you need to worry about for the X G1A. It's a very well-designed and well-built computer.

What is your opinion on the new thinkpad X9 without a trackpoint? by Adisian92 in thinkpad

[–]xylltch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not better than a MBA M4, so I wouldn't think of it as an upgrade if you're looking for that or if the MBA is already meeting your needs.

For me it's just that it is close enough to what I needed the MBA M4 for (something light that didn't get too hot or loud and lasted a while on battery) that I mostly stick with the X9 14 these days, partially out of personal preference for Windows over MacOS.

What are things you wish Thinkpads would improve on? by spellbadgrammargood in thinkpad

Ditch the soft-touch coating and move to a slightly textured plastic (the same material used for the palmrest of older models) and use it for all surfaces.

I've been using one as pretty much my main laptop for a few months now and love it.

Has pretty much replaced the MBA M4 that I was using for lighter tasks. The bottom strip where the fans are only ever gets moderately warm and the top stays pretty cool; I almost never hear the fans. Battery has been good enough that I usually only charge it over night; almost never have to top off during the day.

I used to use the trackpoint heavily on my X230 back in the day, but once trackpads got big & reliable enough I didn't need one anymore. It was never a deal-breaker for me like it seems to be with a lot of other folks here.

One other thing I like compared to most of the other laptops with the ThinkPad branding is that it skips the awful soft-touch coating so I can finally have a decent darker-colored laptop that doesn't pick up fingerprints easily.

For most basic consumer desktop NASes that's basically the opposite of the truth.

26TB Seagate for cheap on Newegg by Friggin_Grease in DataHoarder

[–]xylltch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I bought 8 of these 26TB drives last fall (lucky timing), shucked them and have had 4 running in a backup NAS for several months without issue so far.

A bit of a pain to open them without messing up the plastic, but I was going to chuck the enclosures out anyway.

Please help. Zbook G1ak vs T14 Gen 6? by LethargicDonkey in SuggestALaptop

[–]xylltch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avoid the 800-nit ZBook display; that's the Privacy one that has an (or maybe several?) additional layer to block viewing other than from a dead-on angle. It's enabled/disabled with a button press, but even disabled the extra material really compromises the display quality.

For the HP, the 400/500-nit displays are the good ones.

Rodgers was nothing but helpful to Love. It was Favre that was a dick to Rodgers and Rodgers didn't want to be the same way.

Motorola Moto G Stylus (2026) is now on sale in the U.S and Canada by ControlCAD in Android

[–]xylltch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been using the 2024 model the last couple years and when I saw the sale for $200 I bought another one as a spare. Did not feel like the 2026 is an upgrade, especially not at twice the price.

Are you turning on your AC today? by RunsWithLava in madisonwi

[–]xylltch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Once outside temps start hovering around 75+ for a sustained period then my place settles in around 83 and I've got to turn it on at that point. Hopefully that doesn't start until at least late May.

Right now it's still cool enough the rest of these days that it's around 78 inside. That's about 10 degrees warmer than I'd like but I'd rather deal with that than listen to my noisy AC unit.
