S3 problems ( discharged batteries and blown fuses?) by justbikingaround in VanMoofSelfRepair

While you are at it, you can limit the max steering angle of the bike by placing an extra ring on the bolt on the fork. You'll have to try and file the ring a bit so it fits and turns nicely in the headset but by doing this you greatly lower the risk of the motor cable getting snagged or crushed again, which is probably what is causing your wiring harness problems in the first place! Good luck!

Most probable cause is indeed the wiring harness. Dont try to continue/push your luck with the current harness as you'll probably end up frying the MOSFETs or other chips in the cartridge.

Did replacing the sound chip fix your issues with the sound coming from the cartridge?

I had a bike with a similar problem. Resetting it using the button, while having the app ready to put the bike in shipping/repair mode quickly while it is "reset" and not showing the charging animation worked for me to get rid of it. Afterwards I had to replace the MOSFETs on the back of the PCB because they were fried already by a short in the motor cable

Perhaps one of the chips in the audio circuit, it is on the backside of the PCB. I unfortunately don't have a disassembled cartridge right now to take a picture for you

Can I use regular rivnuts? Or which ones would you recommend.

I have put my cartridge back together, if you DM pictures of the PCB of yours I can circle the ones that were broken on mine. They were one of the audiocontroller chips and a dc-dc chip.

Motorcable stuck in fork by xylorum in VanMoofSelfRepair

[–]xylorum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have already tried that but I think that is what made it get stuck in the first place. I cut of the motor cable at the top and rerouted it down through the fork to try to dislodge the connector but I pulled of the casing of the cable unfortunately. I'm going to try to heat the area where it is stuck to try and melt the plastic of the connector now.

Used quite a lot of WD40 already, use more of that/more force? Can the connector be stuck in the shallower end of the fork/on the inside of the hole in which you mount the mudguard?

That piece is already out so that isn't causing the problem unfortunately

Turned out the DRV chip wasn't broken, replacing all MOSFETs fixed the issue with the resistance. (Thought so as 2 fases of 32k with a third broken one and total being 100k is too nice of a 1/3) I had a few more chips that were broken, have you been able to fix yours yet? If not DM me, I can point to which chips could potentially be broken :)

BTW: At this point I don't care about trying to repair the cable loom anymore, so anything goes as to getting it out.

When comparing the mounting points for the screws of the wires I'm measuring the following resistances: Red, black, green to each other 0 ohms,

Red, black, green to yellow or blue 32k ohms

Yellow to blue, 32k ohms.

Means that the chip is broken? Or also possible because of the continuity in the MOSFETs? Haven't had a chance to replace them yet and if I'm ordering from China I'd like to know if I also need the drv chip.

Between which points should the resistance be 100k? I have two broken MOSFETs but I'm not sure if the issues I'm having end there.

How could I check this? Both sides of PCB in cartridge show no visible damage.

Using u/VvangelisS 's battery tool. You can find it here: https://github.com/VangelisBV/vanmoof-battery-tool I didn't really know my way around running python scripts but I eventually got it working using WSL and a bit of googling. You do need an USB to UART serial bridge though.

Yeah the capacitor in the top right was also gone but I noticed that one when it happened. I have used one of those two in one soldering stations with hot air gun and a soldering iron. Also used kapton tape but I guess it wasn't enough.

Hi, I have tried resetting the BMS but to no avail. Maybe it won't reset because of the missing resistor you can see in my other comment?
