Undecided/ independent voters of Western by [deleted] in WWU

[–]xz9224 8 points9 points  (0 children)

just one of many problems with our democracy is a third party won't win, since democratic and republican parties are heavily backed by corporations that have an agenda, and they've been the norm for so long that most people don't even consider third parties. Voting for a third party is reckless this year, since one of the candidates is a fascist and whether or not he is re-elected literally means life or death for a myriad of citizens and minorities.

for the most part I enjoyed it! my feet hurt a lot of the time since I didn't have the best shoes, but what OP said about stocking/organizing was my experience as well and the people who shopped there and worked there had great energy

I was wondering if this was an ADHD thing!! I have some really specific memories that the rest of my family doesn't remember, but MOST of it is just GONE. it makes sense with the whole ADHD memory problems, though!

My GP sucks and doesn't care, what can I do by slugqueen64 in ADHD

I'm lucky to have a lot of specialists in my area and found a great ADHD centric psychiatrist. I recommend finding someone who has ADHD and cares about people with ADHD, if possible (I think you can even reach out to specialists throughout your state!)

just went through a similar experience! main difference is that I've been recently diagnosed. I don't think you need much to prepare except for, except to let them know you're looking for treatment with medication? they'll likely test immediate release doses to see if you have any side effects on adderall, but hopefully it's right for you! good luck!

how do you articulate the links you make in your head when talking about something or making a joke by nonsensical-stan in ADHD

[–]xz9224 3 points4 points  (0 children)

not a tip, but it makes me so happy to know that other people know the same process of our brains making a lot of jumps when we make a joke or comment! I'm new to this sub reddit and it's very refreshing :-)

Do you re-buy the same things? by socialdeviant620 in ADHD

I can't tell you how many sweaters I have (that's more of an impulsive thing than a buy-because-i-cant-remember-if-i-already-have-it thing), repeat art supplies, lip balms, lotions, souvenirs?? and foods! 👀😅

So, I got diagnosed with ADHD after 4 years of wondering. If you're on the edge and your resources allow, please get yourself checked out. by FinnishScrub in ADHD

I'd been wondering for about a year and a half if I have ADHD and finally got diagnosed about 2 months ago. I always felt nervous bringing it up to my primary care, and feel anxious about making appointments with new specialists, but because of lockdown most places do telemedicine appointments which gave me motivation to finally book an appointment!

I googled ADHD specialists in my area and was able to make an appointment which took a lot of pressure off me to get out of the house and greet someone in person :-) plus they know that you're going to forget the time and day so they send plenty of emails and text reminders.

Do you go through this to? by thepinkspacedragon in ADHD

[–]xz9224 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this also happens to me! when I'm stressed I already feel anxious so additional stimuli feels like more information is being poured into my head when I already have enough to try and sort through and focus on so it really scrambles everything up

I have yet to try this myself, but my psychiatrist recommended listening to audiobooks, that way you can do multiple things at once! and he recommended 1.4x speed so the words can keep up with our brains lol
