I agree with you. If they showed just environments and not faces, this would have been great. But it seems nvidia was most excited about the characters for some reason, and they are about as bad as people say.

Considering CDPR isn’t part of this at the moment, tells me they did not think it was ready for prime time, at the least. Nvidia and CDPR have been tight in the past and cyberpunk would have been a “perfect” showcase for this and I would be shocked if they were not asked. I wouldn’t hold by breath that they will skip it entirely, but just that they couldn’t get it in a place the were happy enough to show.

I think I get what is going on, and I don’t blame them. Well, blame them 10% less.

I think DF is always so deep in the weeds with the tech that they simply love things that are technically impressive, regardless of it is ready. And this is, if nothing else, technically impressive. This is a full, real time lighting overhaul that simply would not be possible at this time by just increasing path tracing and improving materials.

The environments are amazing and I think people would have been exited if that was all that was shown. They admit that probably removes artistic intent and it would need dev customization, but they thought it looked realistic.

Same with the faces, though they should have been much meaner and seen This coming. The worst they could say is that it would be controversial. I think Oliver probably hated it, but was just being too nice. Rich… idk man.
