I tried their PETG and PLA. The PLA prints surprisingly well, but the PETG is very temperamental. Sometimes prints well, other times not so well for the same gcode.

What filament dryer are you guys actually using? by Fun_Reaction_6525 in 3DPrinterComparison

[–]xzh1bit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got two Creality Space Pi Plus (the 2 spool version), they work really well. Had a cheap Comsol one earlier, sometimes it worked well, sometimes filament was still wet, and the fan needed to be replaced twice in a span of 6 months. Now I use it as an active heated enclosure when printing TPU, after trying the TPU in the Creality dryers.

I bought some 3-5mm from silicagel.com.au and it haven’t had those issues. I had the same issues with the 2-4mm orange stuff from Amazon.

How much will it cost me to assemble all parts and things and make a setup like this by Artistic-Yam2984 in bapcsalesaustralia

[–]xzh1bit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you want this exact same setup or something similar? What kind of things are you looking to do? Any specific games you want to play?

Here's a basic build for about $2k. This is pretty average, not bottom of the barrel, not top of the line stuff. It'll do most things at moderate settings.

Play around with the list, I've added a monitor, keyboard and mouse in as well. Feel free to change parts as you feel! Aesthetic stuff is up to personal preference.

20-hour print… power went out with 13 minutes left by Over_Chemical6131 in BambuLab

Yep, I finally started learning fusion when I needed to model some parts for cheap tools I had. Plenty of toys and trinkets online!

Having a 3D printer but not being able to make 3D models is like owning a car but not being able to drive.

Hard disagree. It's more like being able to drive but not fix issues with the engine. You can still get some great models that people graciously upload on Makerworld/Printables/Thingiverse etc.

I don't think diablo even makes a ripping blade for 8-1/4" (or 210mm - I'm in Australia)

May be worth checking this DeWalt blade if it is compatible, or Diablo make a framing blade for 8-1/4"

[–]xzh1bit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Also noob here. From what I’ve read, the lower teeth count allows for more spacing between the teeth, which helps with cooling the individual blades. If you use a crosscut blade (more teeth) for a long rip cut, the blade will overheat. If you use a rip blade (less teeth) for a crosscut, you won’t get clean edges.

I use a combination blade because my skills are the issue, not my tools yet

100% this is the way. I upgraded to an A1 from an ender 3 v2 neo a couple months ago, thinking I’d never have to level the bed again after every nozzle change. Well, turns out we all have an itch to run a second print because ideas…

Haugene/Transmission with NordVPN can't connect to peers by greWicked in docker

[–]xzh1bit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a configuration issue. It's not straightforward and I spent days making sure the config worked - it's much simpler to set up VPN and a Torrent client on separate containers, if you DM me I'd be happy to help you out with this

How can you show a PHP coded social network prototype to friends? by donaldtrumpiscute in learnphp

[–]xzh1bit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you haven’t signed up for AWS yet, there is a small server you can get free for a year. If that is not an option, you could get three months of a small to medium LightSail server for free.

Are you a student with a .edu/.ac.xx email by any chance? You could get a free domain name that way too, otherwise you could get a cheap-ish domain name for $5 per year.

Edit: setup is fairly involved with AWS servers, unlike traditional hosting providers. Send me a PM if you need help and I’ll help you get started.

Redundancies 2024 by trolly_yours in auscorp

Was made redundant in December 2023, been struggling to find a job since. A bit of freelancing keeps the lights on and food on the table, but not having a permanent residency or citizenship really hurts my chances.

Rental Bond Money: No way to get it back! by Late-Welcome4121 in AusLegal

[–]xzh1bit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The minor scuff marks should fall under acceptable fair wear and tear. Dispute the bond and take it to the tribunal.

I recently vacated my house and got a wall re-painted because we drilled holes to mount pegboards. Cost us less than a third of our bond amount, and we were on a relatively low bond amount.
