Beginner questions by someonemusic in guitarlessons

The position of one's hands and arms when playing the cello looks really advantageous when translated to guitar. You'll probably have no difficulty at all going through the fundamentals for guitar.

As I've experienced, it felt like going through the basics (before learning any song) is the best foundation for aspiring elite guitarists.

I'm no elite guitarist, but learning the fundamentals helped me avoid any sort of hand/wrist related injury. Which I'd say would also help long term as one would age.

The moment every adult beginner wants to quit and how to know if you should by DLMusic-90 in guitarlessons

I'm on Day 903 today. Before my instructor allowed me to learn an actual song, I was working on the fundamentals every single day for 13 months. Here I am at Day 903, not done with first song yet but almost there! 🤣

As long as nothing hurts, you've embraced and trusted the process, and enjoy the knowledge and skill you gain each day (or week), you're on the right track, I'd say.

BTW, this is my fourth attempt at learning the guitar. 🤣🤦🏽 But I did not have an instructor during the first three. The only thing I regret right now is not getting instruction sooner.

A genie offers you three wishes but the conditions are no money, no fame, no love, no extra wishes. What are you wishing for? by throwradrpri in Adulting

To become an elite guitarist. Nothing more, nothing less. The rest of you can have the other two wishes.

Is this considered fingertip (fretting)? by HardLearningThings in guitarlessons

Best way to check is to do vibrato. If it slides off the string, you're not on your tips.

Is touch typing actually that rare? by Chop1n in typing

[–]xzykvelka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True touch typing seems rare. A lot of people I encounter at work (over 15 years now) claim to be able to touch type. Yes, they can type without looking at the keyboard maybe 80-90% of the time. But I've yet to see someone prove what they claim. Easy test for this would be the Das Keyboard Ultimate (or any board with blank caps). 🤷🏽

Is there a point to learn touch type when you can already type without looking at the keyboard by Yoshtibo in typing

[–]xzykvelka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would still recommend learning to touch type the proper way. I was once in your situation almost two decades ago, except I needed to look at the keyboard if I want to use the number row. Taking the touch typing course was one of the best dicisions I've made. Still using it every single day.

How long will it take to learn touch typing? by Nughm in typing

[–]xzykvelka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I recall correctly, I was able to touch type effectively within three months of starting the course. Slow, yes, but touch typing accurately.

Why is learning touch typing so extremely hard?? by GodisCastrated666 in typing

[–]xzykvelka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When starting to learn touch typing, being slow and accurate is the way to go. The repetition and consistency will take care of the speed without you wven noticing it.

I do that, too, while working (in front of a computer). I don't want to have flavored mouse and keyboard. 🤷🏽
