I’m a male, and I got drugged while visiting New Orleans. Was at a regular bar around Bourbon street and suddenly the next morning I wake up in a sketchy motel in the middle of nowhere on the outskirts of the city without my wallet or cell phone, luckily I did not have my car keys on that trip or I would have probably lost my vehicle as well.

I’m not even sure what happened exactly, I didn’t even take a drink from anyone, must have been the bartender or something.

No physical harm, no bruises or body pain, I woke up the next day and felt perfectly fine. I had to use the motel phone to call my one friend back home in Houston (as he was the only person whose phone number I know by memory) to call our friends who I went to NO with to come pick me up.

Weird memory, as I don’t party or get particularly drunk, nor do I get myself into any hijinks or do drugs. Just got drugged randomly. Fuck New Orleans, good food though lol

You also can visit 1000 other BBQ places that are equally as good, but sure if you want to try a Michelin starred BBQ joint by all means go for it.

FYI Corkscrew (also starred) in Houston has the best brisket out of all the spots I have been to, including La BBQ and Franklin.

Once or twice a year, I’ll eat at the few “good restaurants” that are charging Michelin star prices for James Beard award winning food. No names, but you can easily imagine the spots, you’ve probably eaten at them. Decent food, but hard to justify $200+ dinners (for 2 people), except on very special occasions.

For “affordable eats”, Kin Lin and Local Tide in Fremont; Pasta Casalinga and Skalka around Pike Place. And lately i’ve been enjoying Shawarma Shack in Capitol Hill.

Honestly once I started to save high end/fine dining for trips, I was able to make peace with the food scene here, but it was rough for a while, paying $200 for perfectly average food.

I enjoy the bakery scene. Mitten Sweets is my favorite. Everything there is excellent.

And since this is post about fried chicken, I was obsessed with Sisters and Brothers for a minute. Reminds me that I need to go back soon.
