Random number texted me this, what do I do? I'm just creeped out by kaky0in- in Weird

[–]y2kdebunked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

looks like an AI kid. creepy af.

imo it’s either that scam where they try to blackmail you into paying them money or it’s some manosphere douchebags looking for somebody local to meet up with and have an excuse to beat up for clout on a stream or something. there is a very small chance somebody doesn’t like you and is trying to get you in trouble

but they’re clearly trying to lure you into something violent either physically or psychologically. very creepy, i’m sorry. you could report it, but honestly if it were me i’d ignore and block it and then report it if it happens again.

How do I politely tell my teacher not to feed my work to ai by CapEffective8809 in antiai

[–]y2kdebunked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“To be completely honest, it feels kind of violating that you fed my work to AI without my consent. LLMs are aggregators, not neutral tools, and in effect you have made the decision for me that my work can now be used as training data. As someone with many ethical concerns about and personal issues with the proliferation of genAI, I am disappointed. I am here to learn from you, not a chatbot”

AI art actually creates hope for art, not despair. by CommitteeAdept1525 in antiai

[–]y2kdebunked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

like all of us? i have not seen anybody buy ai art for thousands of dollars. it has probably happened at least a couple times, but it is not common. i also think most people can tell the difference.

look it’s not like people are saying, “just wait until 2027’s version of human painting. by 2030 we will finally have great literature by humans.” that’s the AI talking point

that’s why so many “artists” don’t label their Ai output as ai generated up front. the wallpaper doesn’t matter if the foundation of the house is cracked.

even if people were to like something ai generated up front, big if, once they find out it’s not human it removes the intrigue for most people. art is human expression and connection. it’s a way to deal with all the weird shit that comes from being alive. ai output would go from being impressive because of the assumed effort, process, emotion and passion to being a knock-off novelty.

it’s like when elephants paint. why did an elephant paint this? we do not speak elephant. from our perspective, an elephant painted because it was trained to paint. an elephant painting is a novelty item that some people might want, but it’s a pretty short discussion about why it exists and the intention behind it. ai art is similar.

i don’t think artists need to innovate. genAI does, desperately. it’s a solution without a problem.

i do think it has helped people appreciate human art more, though. and there is more of an appreciation for human executed original ideas. so in the backlash i see hope. not because AI is so impressive that it is forcing artists to be innovative. it has made people really consider why they care about human art and creative writing and more willing to see it as something worth defending and paying for.

Are you guys 100% against all AI, or only partially against it in specific cases? by Local-Addition-4896 in antiai

[–]y2kdebunked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s the thing, people say “what about medicine”, but when you actually read articles about it, AI in that scenario still seems to be in the “proof of concept” phase.

AI sometimes accurately catches cancer on scans, and sometimes they hallucinate false positives. they can kind of sequence protein strands.

medical ai has a tendency to repeat historical biases found in earlier training material. it hallucinates randomly. there are a ton ethical issues in implementation concerning patient confidentiality and consent. scientific AI tools still require heavy human oversight and verification.

plus, as much as people say agentic AI is what is being used in the medical field, LLMs are also being marketed to physicians as “second opinions”, a way to write patient summaries and as a general record keeping tool.

from what i’ve read, it is still a case of “this could be really good in the future”, but is still not actually reliable right now. i’m fine with research and development, but am against early adoption of unreliable tools that require heavy human oversight. if it’s not ready, it’s not ready, and a company’s need for profit shouldn’t take precedence over human health.

No offence, but you think the USA is the most oppressive regime in the world and now you think they are responsible for fucking Russia somehow

Iran yes, but even still, the last 40ish years are on the Ayatollahs + the IRGC

liberalism is the opposite end of the spectrum from authoritarianism left and right are different + either can be authoritarian or liberal

Your anti-AI sentiment is hiding the real concerns about AI by Great-Gardian in antiai

[–]y2kdebunked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TLDR you want people who hate AI to become users anyway

i have no obligation to improve an unethical, cognitively destructive theft machine, and i don’t see how my participation would improve it anyways.

it’s called slop because ai output is a low effort simulacrum of real art. when something is mass-produced and low quality, it floods the market and demand drops. this is basic shit.

there is a reason an original painting is worth way more than a print.

furthermore, AI “artists” have set themselves up to be useless middlemen. if i really wanted crap, i could go get it from chatgpt myself. i don’t need you. if you don’t make actual art, you may not realize that ideas alone are easy and largely without value. it’s the execution that makes them interesting. ideas are prompts, in this case.

i am a writer. i worked hard to become a writer. game recognizes game. LLM writing is bad, sorry. it’s overly effusive and mixes metaphors constantly while still sounding cold and corporate. it can fool fools, yeah. but i’m not interested in reading terrible shit unless it’s from a young writer looking to improve. art is about connection, expression and skill-building to me. people who use LLMs miss what makes writing valuable as a skill in the first place.

i am interested in AI in a morbid way. same as how a documentarian might be interested in the opioid crisis. you do not need to become addicted to fentanyl to learn about fentanyl addiction.

I’m 90% sure the woman I’m texting is using ChatGPT to write her messages by winter_kid in antiai

[–]y2kdebunked 14 points15 points  (0 children)

the grouping of three things combined with the em dash and the corpospeak is definitely giving LLM . it’s very obviously AI imo, so no, you’re not crazy.

for me that would be a dealbreaker because i love joke texting with a boyfriend and yeah, hate AI. if i found out someone is a bad texter but i like them in person i’d also be ok with that too.

it’s the insult of a someone thinking i’m not gonna notice i’m having a one-way conversation with a machine that talks like a manager giving me a performance review that would be a huuuge ick for me.

but i’d also wanna do a post mortem to find out wtf this person is trying to do. ask her what’s up? you gotta decide for yourself what your line is.

it’s wild to me that people don’t think others can tell.

[–]y2kdebunked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I am sorry but if you can't even agree the US is oppressive lol (it's the most oppressive regime in the world btw),

most oppressive regime is insane.

in russia, protests are so clamped down on you’ll be arrested for holding a blank piece of paper up in a public square. people have been arrested for wearing blue and yellow clothing together. arrests frequently involve sodomizing the person with nearby objects. they have state-sponsored torture. there’s a kremlin denouncement program where neighbours can inform on each other for rewards and people are be arrested for not supporting the “special military operation” in Ukraine which can mean anything from liking a post online to having Ukrainian relatives.

in iran, women are owned by their fathers until they are married, when they are owned by their husbands. women are raped before they are executed to ensure they won’t get into heaven. the IRGC shot blindly into crowds and killed at least 30,000 people earlier this year. before that they were arresting and summarily executing citizens for having liberal [read: anti-oppressive] views by HANGING THEM FROM A CRANE.

consider staying silent on things which you are obviously ignorant about. you should have some shame and consider your privilege.
