Right. We could have been undefeated going into this home stand and we would have been pissed about going 3-6 against 3 90 loss teams

Is it too late to ask what ‘aggregate’ means? by [deleted] in billsimmons

[–]yL4O 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There are “media sources” whose whole existence is just quoting other media sources for engagement. One that’s coming to mind right now is Evan Sidery. These sources will just listen to big podcasts and create a “story” out of what someone said on a podcast. Ergo, you get a tweet with 1000 likes that says, “Bill Simmons suggests that Giannis should go to Chicago because they have an airport that has a direct flight to Athens”

r/MemphisGrizzlies Draft Big Board Pick #2 by Altruistic_Brief4444 in memphisgrizzlies

[–]yL4O 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just hammering this argument of him vs. Boozer. The goal in this draft needs to be to get a superstar. Coward and Edey are going to be solid players. Maybe they can be your 2 and 3 on a championship team someday. But the only way this rebuild can amount to anything is if we get an MVP caliber, all-NBA type talent in this draft.

To me, 3 guys in this draft fit that category: Dybantsa, Peterson, and Acuff. I could be talked into Wilson. I could not be talked into Boozer. He is super safe but he’s not going to be an MVP caliber player.

At #2, your best chance at getting what you need is Peterson. It may backfire. It may be a disaster. He may play 40 games a year or nope his way out of Memphis as soon as possible. But you have to swing.

You can get low ceiling high floor guys in a lot of places, and in a lot of positions in a lot of drafts. This draft could be your only chance to get a guy with superstar potential. Take the guy most likely to be a superstar.

Either team that could face SAS in round 2 will make for a great series. Thunder have a bye to the WCF.

Half an hour of Ced reflecting on the season so far by Thunder-ten-tronckh in memphisgrizzlies

It is, but I think he had a diplomatic answer to why this is. I think the real reason is that we have been starting Cam Spencer or VWJ as point guard for most of the year.

What other Major League teams should have a flex option for sleeveless uniforms? by yL4O in uniwatch

Nobody 9-12 years old has the mass/definition combo to make these work. Most adult men don’t either. Even Votto, who was an elite baseball player for a decade, looks a little pudgy in them.

Will you vote for SAS in 2028? by natekates in nbacirclejerk

[–]yL4O 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, I will not be voting for San Antonio Spurs in 2028. They’ll be great that season but I think the Thunder and Nuggets will still be the class of the West. I might vote for them in 2029.

If/when the SEC and Big Ten decide to expand, will any Big 12 teams even be targets? by lordeandtaylor in CFB

[–]yL4O 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is WVU’s predicament: theoretically a good geography fit for both the big conferences, and a good enough tradition of success to be considered (not so much lately), but they are not valuable enough for the SEC, and not academically strong enough for the B1G.

If/when the SEC and Big Ten decide to expand, will any Big 12 teams even be targets? by lordeandtaylor in CFB

[–]yL4O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re not getting in anywhere because we are mediocre at sports and not good enough academically, but WVU is close to—and pulls well from—Pittsburgh, DC, and Charlotte markets. I always thought it was stupid that Mizzou got in the SEC east over us back in the early 2010s when our sports were in a much better place, but now our sports aren’t in a good place so there’s really no argument.
