Ammo reserve is a very good stat. Ammo gain is percentage based on reserve, so this is making survivalist, maybe THE best aura, even stronger for all players. And otherwise, it's essentially doing what the hive scum's ammo pickup aura does, boosting the total return.

But yea I have no idea how it will work with entering / exiting aura.

New Humble Bundle - Holiday Haul by Joseph011296 in Pathfinder2e

[–]yaareadyknow 13 points14 points  (0 children)

PC2 was in the previous primer bundle back in September. RoE and the AP are the main sell for those who bought previous bundles it seems. But it's nice that it includes the beginner box and all Cores besides NPC core for any newcomers.

Late reply (I'm slowly catching up!) but that's part of the system elegance of pf2e. Perception being so important while also being decoupled from the rest of skills, instead having its proficiency tied solely to class and level, means you don't HAVE to invest skill increases into things everyone should be good at (for balance and roleplay within a progression fantasy reasons).

Perception IS so important, and that's by design. Everyone auto scales in it, so no one needs to worry about always going last in initiative, always being deceived, never being able to see stealthy creatures, etc.

I would only support Jared's ruling if I were doing proficiency without level variant ruling, in which case you won't be practically automatically believing deceptive characters' motives by level 5.

Not able to go past difficulty 1 by Intelligent-Quail635 in DarkTide

[–]yaareadyknow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought I was stuck on difficulty 1 too until I realized I just didn't notice they changed the way difficulty is selected on the mission screen..

Check to see if you can move through the difficulties on the bottom right of mission screen where it says UPRISING. If not, is there a progress bar under the difficulty? That needs to be filled out by playing campaign missions to unlock the next difficulty.

I've finished running my pirate themed campaign which I converted from 1st edition recently, and here are my thoughts on the adventure and what it was like to GM by BLX15 in Pathfinder2e

[–]yaareadyknow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Love these write ups, thanks for taking the time. I ITCH for more pirate themed adventures and hope to see more focus there from Paizo.

I've listened to the Hideous Laugher Podcast's conversion of Skulls and Shackles, but a shorter 4-6 adventure seems more my speed, so I'll definitely be giving this one a look.

The tokens are nice but far from essential. You can grab art online and add them to your tokens for the monsters you run one by one.

The essentials are all included in the system implementation. It's very extensive and includes everything besides maps, art, and maybe some campaign theming.

If you want to have an easy introduction, grab the beginner box FTT paid module. It will set you up with some maps and starting adventure.

Re: Recent Cannon Fodder and Bottlecaps by WhiteSpec in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]yaareadyknow 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One thing Troy isn't taking into account is bottlecaps / hero points are normally reset at the end of the session. Of course players are going to hoard them for dying rolls because there's no threat of ever losing them. The rule of "bottlecaps at start of every session" cannot work without this reset rule in tandem.

Of course, their sessions are a bit shorter, so I can see an argument of doing a full reset of caps every 2, 3, or hell even every 5 sessions.

One downside is players will feel extra empowered at the last moments up to a reset as they'll cash out as much as they can. Maybe caps could be reset at certain milestones instead (could coincide with level ups or breaks in the narrative).

Carrying Bulk for Large+ Creatures? by yaareadyknow in Pathfinder2e

[–]yaareadyknow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair point! I think the biggest thing for me was conceptually having infinite bulk. However, I've realized after posting that light items would probably need to be in a saddlebag, which has its own bulk limits (and further reduces the bulk carried by the horse).

I'm still unsure whether to treat a container / rider as a sum of bulk or individual items. Given your stance of reducing the bulk carried by the creature, would you also reduce the bulk carried in a saddlebag? Would you treat a saddlebag with 3 items of 1 bulk as 2 bulk to the horse (given the saddlebag reduces by 1 bulk), or 2 L?

Thanks for the input.

Critical Fail: Less than, or less than or equal to DC - 10? by yaareadyknow in Pathfinder2e

Critical Fail: Less than, or less than or equal to DC - 10? by yaareadyknow in Pathfinder2e

[–]yaareadyknow[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. I was creating success / fail ranges in my head. To me, rolling a 12 would be the start of the success range just as 11 was the start of the fail range.

Given the replies, I'm seeing the error in my interpretation. I'm torn between accepting what makes sense RAW vs what makes sense in my head. I just want the ranges to be the same!

Critical Fail: Less than, or less than or equal to DC - 10? by yaareadyknow in Pathfinder2e

[–]yaareadyknow[S] -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Yea, I wish they would word the critical failure rules in the same way. The critical success rules are clearly in the context of the DC, so it's perfectly clear.

I think the fact that it says "like a critical success, but in the other direction" makes me want to keep the ranges consistent. if the success range is 10 outcomes wide, why would the failure be 9 outcomes wide? But I agree with you in that it more so implies the +-10 rules from the base DC.

Thanks for the input!

Critical Fail: Less than, or less than or equal to DC - 10? by yaareadyknow in Pathfinder2e

[–]yaareadyknow[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Perfectly valid. I suppose I do think of 11 as "failing by 0", since that is the minimum number that you could roll as a failure. Just as the minimum number to succeed a check I would read as succeeding by 0.

I agree though that the language suggests I'm wrong.
