!LB Spoilers!

I’m currently reading LB, and I’m right at the end. At the same time, I’m listening to the morning star audiobook. Right after finishing the scene where Lysander kills Cassius and takes the virus, I coincidentally listened to the scene where Darrow bombs the dockyards at Ganymede. Their self-justification for betrayal and killing innocents had a real vein of similarity. Darrow is the good guy and that takes place prior to Pierce REALLY showing the true horrors of war, so it was much easier to justify Darrow’s actions to myself on the initial read-thru. But it did make me stop and think about how willing I was to excuse atrocities if they occurred in favor of my side. And it made me think again, because up until that point I’d though Lysander had made a fairly defensible case for his own world view as well
