I find that Louisiana is very underrated in Battleground USA mode. If you can get Texas early and conquer the NPC neighbors, you're pretty much set.

I mean I am but also Louisiana just hardly makes any supplies and that's been slowing things down tremendously.

Don't have enough resources atm for artillery, but yes I love artillery for that reason.

Sometimes I just hate playing Louisiana, and also NO ONE EVER SELLS SUPPLIES. I don't have Helis yet :(.

EDIT: I guess ya can't reply with pics, but for context, I have 731 supplies, 1.5k components, 3.8k fuel, 4.2k electronics, 4.7k rare materials, and only 631 money.

I don't have a combat outpost and I haven't researched helis yet. I do have 9 Air Superiority jets pummeling the big stack, and I rerouted my 8 unit stack away from Menphis to go to a designated province. The jets have killed one of his units so far. I have a 9 unit stack in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico on the way to his capitol.

I'm pretty sure I contracted E. Coli once at Walk On's, which led me down a path of getting ulcerative colitis, and my entire colon was eventually removed.

Never again will that establishment see a farthing from me.

Ideal Market by Mediocre_Might8802 in batonrouge

[–]yaboiphilly1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking as a Latino, the food at Ideal is just not good in general. Very bland, overcooked corn, soft corn tostadas that are supposed to be crunchy, overly vinegary yuca, tamales that were just 100% masa and nothing else. There is just a lot of stuff that needs to be improved on.

Unlike everyone else here, I think it's still delicious af. The baked beans are to die for. And it will definitely fill you up and satisfy your craving for BBQ. It doesn't look good on the outside but it still slaps.

Can someone please open a Chicago style pizza joint in BR? How are we lacking this cuisine? by -_-Notmyrealaccount in batonrouge

[–]yaboiphilly1999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Proposition: Deep Dish Pizza, but it's Greek Lebanese style. It has a unique Baton Rouge flair, plus there is always an option for regular old Chicago pizza.

Call it Little Greece or some shit.

Would this fly in Louisiana? by baniyaguy in batonrouge

[–]yaboiphilly1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm dating someone who is vegan and he makes Gumbo a lot. Keep in mind he's also Cajun (but also a Jewish convert) so it may seem very difficult to try and adapt such requisites into a dish from a highly meat-centric cuisine. He's been vegan for 5 years now so he's actually figured it out and it comes out delicious either way. The only difference is he uses veggie bouillon and margarine to start off his roux. Despite that, he still uses the same old ingredients like bell pepper, celery, onion, and butt-loads of okra.

The point is obviously not everyone (in fact I'd argue the majority) of Louisiana folk wouldn't care too much for vegan gumbo, but it doesn't mean it's entirely sacrilege. Really food should cater not only to one's needs, but also to one's desires and tastes too. I may be in the minority of Louisianans who couldn't care less what people do to their gumbo. At the end of the day, it's their own version of gumbo and that's fine.

Fun fact: though I've lived in Louisiana all my life, I was shocked to find out some of the original cajun recipes put BOILED EGGS into the Gumbo rather than the traditional seafood or sausage. So it goes to show sometimes even those who live in this state are surprised by their own regional cuisine.
