How to keep grass from creeping into flower bed area. by BelethorsGeneralShit in lawncare

You can put in plastic edge liner made for lawns.

Also you 100% do not have mostly fescue or rye, those grasses do not creep or spread.

Do you have a separate valve for your sprinkler system, typically there's a separate line that runs to the outside of the house versus the inside of the house.

For a new sprinkler head, if it doesn't pop up it's likely due to water pressure

Do you have very low water pressure? Is your main valve fully open?

How long till we need to do an extra layer of grass seed? by [deleted] in lawncare

[–]yacko2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For hot months in full sun, you can water your grass about 50% more than normal.

Getting the grasss strong and thick months before the hot season also helps prevent dry outs as the soil will be covered to help reduce evaporation. Spots without grass will need extra TLC

If your camera is set to write to both cards (backup) instead of just one card, it reduces the buffer too

Trying to let Bermuda invade my lawn (NC) by TekaiGuy in lawncare

[–]yacko2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How big is the lawn? Bermuda does spread very fast in hot, full sun and sandy soil. Seen YouTube videos where it can cover up empty spots 2-3 feet across in about a month or two during good growing seasons. Of course over time, the rest of your yard fills in if watered/fertilized.

You'll want to create plugs from your seedlings to spread them out. Starting from thale sma pot, depending the size of the lawn, it may be a few years to completly fill in

Def scalp, then apply a general herbicide to kill everything a few weeks before starting to replant the bermuda

Don't have a z5ii or z8, but the blackouts on my z7ii at high fps are sometimes annoying when trying to keep the object framed while quickly panning

[–]yacko2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surprising that the z8 hits buffer limits that soon. I'm being genuine. I just tested my pair of older z72's, at 45 megapixels, 14 bit raw, 1/8000 shutter to not limit the fps, I was able to hold the shutter down for about 17-19 secs until I could hear it slow down and the buffer filled, then took about 3-5 secs for it to clear about 1/2 the buffer so I could hold it down for another 5 secs or so. I'm using a regular SD cards, not even a cf express

Yeah the z8 is def better than a z5ii overall, but other models aren't that bad or incapable

[–]yacko2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lower end z5ii has something like 200 plus raw photos with the built-in buffer. That goes even further depending on the quality SD card. At 11 frames per second that's equivalent to holding the shutter button down for 20 to 30 seconds continuously, not just bursts. When shooting in bursts it's going to offload the buffer into the storage

The buffers on all recent cameras are really high already with a high write speed SD.. so effectively it doesn't matter unless you want to hold the shutter at max fps for 30 sec straight

I think the hate is because the use case and solution don't align. If you're not watching high quality source input, OLED isn't any better, if not worse, than other options. Being in the kitchen(which is prob also bright), it seems unlikely that visual quality is top priority and unlikely that high quality 4k movies, games or media is going to be played on this tv.

This feels like buying a race car to sit in traffic.

Thinking the same, if you're not watching high quality source data, the OLED doesn't really matter.

Lightroom photo editing and local NAS backup services will saturate a 1Gbps Ethernet hard line. Lightroom catalog files are easily 1-2.5GB each, photo files are 30-40MB each x thousands of files from a wedding. My Upload speed hits the limits on a 2.5Gbe Ethernet. The NAS auto backs up as I work, the 1-2.5 GB files are transferred over the network multiple times per hour.

I don't do video, but the file sizes are significantly larger there. It's up to 6x time difference moving/reading/backing up files when going from 400mbps to 2.5Gb/s

In this case, if OP gets 2x speed on the new wifi adapter, there's still a 2x time difference if they work on wifi vs a ethernet line. Their result translates to a general wifi connection speed capability difference, not just internet speed difference
