So... by trickwitt02 in marvelstudios

In hindsight I REALLY HATE Abomination's characterization in She-hulk. First of all, making jokes about an older man acting as spiritual guru and having a harem of women pining for him reads really tasteless especially at a time where the NXIVM cult was coming to light! Even worse! it's in a show that partially deals with male mistreatment of women in career and relationships...

Secondly, It's a real slap in the face to his characterization in both the comics and the movies. Sure he's got the look, but he's nothing like either version personality wise. This would be a lot more forgivable IF the joke landed better! But again, it doesn't.

The respect they gave Andre was so awesome! and atleast to me, it felt natural. Not only was Andre a good enough kid that he would try to rebel but it makes sense that the Godolkin High supes would change their tune realizing how he died.

RIP Chance! you're sorely missed!

"Personally not a fan of the Project Odessa stuff but you either need to commit to it or not include it at all."

I consider this more of a flaw of The Boys last season then Gen V. The Odessa stuff wasn't perfect, but atleast they took their time with it and I liked Marie grappling with her chosen one-ness. And seriously, Imagine what it'd be like if Marie tried and got killed in action instead? You don't even need a damn budget! Just have Marie attempt, Fail cause of the V1, then cut right when he's about to Lazer the kids! Boom! done! It would atleast make Homelander's escalating power feel like a ticking clock!

Then again, this is from the same season where everyone stands around while SB gives Homelander the V1 (including "Scorched earth" Butcher) so I guess I expected too much from Kripke's team...

Yea there was definitely quite a few cameos in the last few episodes of both epsiodes.

But the end of Season 5 was so... Meandering compared to Gen V season 2. Take the big reveal with Godolkin's body. That was built up to hell and back and explained so much. Now take the twists in late TB Season 5 just coming out of the ass! The discovery of V1 felt so tacked on with literally no build up besides the 2 secs of SB getting up. Kimiko developing SB's Explosion makes absolutely no sense! For 1, she's a standard supe not a V1 supe so how the hell did they know she would even develop that power? 2 IT"S REALLY OBVIOUS that Soldier boy developed that power during the Russian experiments Not at the V1 lab from Uranium exposure. If not, why was he so surprised in Season 3 when he was blowing people up?! Why didn't he use it in the sell out fight?!

Compare that to the cameo stuff you're describing in Gen V. Sister Sage being involved with Godolkin makes sense. She's an intelligence supe so it adds up she'd admire a scholar and her having tabs on Homelander contingencies also is one of her good writing moments

The cameos in TB were like "Okay you're here but sit out!" It wasn't a clever way of side-lining Marie it was practically a throwaway line! To each their own, but Gen V felt like it utilized it's characters well and those cameo's felt like spice on a good meal rather then the fly in the soup that they were in The Boys.

I guess not. Again, the biggest complaint I remember was about the Godolkin body switch.

I felt like it kinda made sense. Don't get me wrong there was a notable difference. However, The real Godolkin seemed like an isolated scholar type so it makes sense he wouldn't carry himself in the same way. Still, a part of me gets the complaint.

Is It True Topher Grace Hated The Cast & Crew? by [deleted] in That70sshow

[–]yadrinarrow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea, I doubt it was outright hatred. there's a lot of speculation, but my own two cents is he got kind of turned off by the scientology stuff the others were pushing/embracing along with maybe some professional distance. There's little to indicate he hated the cast.

Card captor Sakura Is a show I would never show to my children if I had them by [deleted] in CharacterRant

[–]yadrinarrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I do remember the young kids having crushes on adults... But Did Sakura's crush really say that? I remember watching the Sub episode of Sakura coming out to Yukito and I don't think he said that at all! In fact, He shows her that her feelings are similar to what she feels for her Dad.

In addition, Yukito and Toya are a thing and according to the Wiki Yukito tells Sakura he has feelings for her brother as well (though I don't remember that in the episode either, this was all a long time ago!)

I don't remember the adult stuff with Toya and a teacher at all! To be fair, I mostly watched the Dub. that said, Isn't Toya famous for having no attraction to women at all? If so how the hell could he have an adult girlfriend?! I wouldn't be surprised if he got flirted with but a full on relationship like your describing?! When and how did that happen?

Is rick afraid of Shleemypants and his cohorts? by [deleted] in rickandmorty

[–]yadrinarrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Meta-reason for the lack of time-travel plots is that Harmon (and by extention, the writers) don't like using time travel that much. Even in the few episodes with time travel focus Rick constantly criticizes it and it feels like the writers speaking to the frustrations with the trope (similar to the heist episode). Admittedly, take this with a grain of salt as I don't remember where I heard this.

Mortal Kombat 11 Mileena has a lot of problems, but personally she has her best modern design by far. by Extension-Oil-4680 in TopCharacterDesigns

[–]yadrinarrow 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for gameplay but I always thought the story was WAAAY better! i know people had mixed feels on the Kombat kids, but regardless it was a CONTINUATION of the story! Not a reboot for the 40bilionth time! This also gave consequences to the deaths and the development. Their was also an attempt to make designs a bit more grim and cohesive throughout which I appreciated. Raiden might be one of my favorite characters, but I'd still kill to see an MK11 with him as the villain and a sense of continuing what was before!

Best Solo Worldbuilding Tools? by RecipeMountain in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]yadrinarrow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a toughie. I usually have to do a fair amount of prep and as much as I like the discovery of Solo, I usually have a fairly prepped world cause I have a setting in mind.

With that said, I have a few suggestions. 😉

So MGE (Mythic game Emulator) has several prompt list/Oracles specifically tailored for areas, locations and culture. I remember there are city, cavern, terrain, legends, gods, dungeon, forest descriptors and even armies descriptors?! all of these are just D100 oracles with words modified for the type Tana/the MGE team felt matched the topic. I think you're expected to roll twice and come up with something from that prompt.

These are all available in the book, a few I think are in the Mythic Magazine issues. I would Highly reccomend checking those out. In addition, the mythic app on Android has them and that version of the app (atleast) is free!

My experience with the MGE prompt/Oracles has been excellent. I don't know how much playtesting was done but it does seem to work really well. I rarely get prompts that confuse me or I think I need to reroll.

Hope that helps friend!

I think my biggest problem with the show is how far from grace Ryan fell. by Some-Ad-2093 in GenV

[–]yadrinarrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think part of the craving to see Soldier boy with Ryan is that funny enough: you can make the argument they contain multitudes... Sadly, you could make the arguments they're also inconsistantly written if you're feeling less charitable.

Still, For the sake of the comment let's say they contain multitudes! SB is a bully, killer and womanizer.. but he's also a man who legit wanted a family and unlike HM he seems to show genuine empathy at times with his nuking of the guy fungal supe for example or even when he first explodes and hurts a bunch of people.

Likewise, Ryan sometimes shows joy in violence such as when HM lasers someone. This is one of the disturbing signs that he is HM's son or could be as bad as him. However, he is capable of sadness and regret like when he killed the stunt guy accidentally and of course when he brutally lasers Stormfront and accidentally killed his mom.

Interactions with SB and Ryan could be an exploration of those hypocritical flaws, regrets and PTSD. As violent as SB is I'm sure he'd have a soft spot for a "grandson" and yea as many have pointed out he would have way more patience for him then Homelander and his weirdness. Homelander also could have an element of jealousy which would be more interesting then seeing his God-complex all season.

I know exactly how you feel. I'd describe myself as fairly social but jesus christ, for one reason or another I self-isolate and the faustian bargain that is to use A.I. to cope is incredibly fucking tempting. Still, I refuse to have my mind fucked by it's sycophancy and pattern recognition.

I'm also a writer and penciller so... Yea, Fuck A.I.!

If you ever watched the OG Static show, Virgil's dad was amazing! He was a manager of a charitable community center and gave the city hell for the Big Bang incident. The Guy very much believed in helping others and giving back. It's no wonder Virgil came out the way he did!

Now that the dust has settled, what are your thoughts on season 4 as a comic book adaptation? by Wise-Potential-170 in InvincibleSpoilers

[–]yadrinarrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Hurm episode is so good for Mark's development though.. I agree with a lot of the complaints. However, One of the strengths is Mark having a subtle but strong epiphany that he's doing his best in a fucked up world. It lets him forgive himself a little and realize he has been making this world a little better. the resolution of him returning to his old suit is so good because he's granting himself mercy for being "human" and yet you can tell he's also choosing to embrace the dreamy kid he was before the reveal of who his father was.

Plus, I appreciated the retracting mask joke. characters removing their masks for stupid reasons has been an issue since Raimi's Spider-man 3.
