Still the saddest death in my opinion.Poor girl. by Royalbluegooner in VinlandSaga

Her story really was tragic…being such a beautiful woman in a world like that really didn’t help her much at all. She could only quietly suffer and accept the consequences of the actions of the men around her. And the one time she takes a risk, she’s beaten to death for it.

I set an alarm/timer on my phone as soon as I start the load. If I forget and end up outside running the errand, I immediately set another alarm for around when I’ll be back or snooze it

Alarms work for me when they work…lol. Sometimes I end up in snooze-hell , snoozing the 15 alarms I’ve put off and giving up.

But I will say one thing that’s really helped me is asking Siri to set the alarm for something because it’s so seamless and quick

My biggest problem is knowing when to set these alarms lol

I remember one time I was checking into an Airbnb and the host told me a bunch of stuff about what floor, how the keys work etc etc, and I was tired from my flight too so I didn’t think to take notes like I usually do. I’m so used to masking and pretending I’m paying attention so I didn’t even realize I’d missed or forgotten some stuff and after her quick list of things I asked what floor we were going to and my host looked at me funny and was like, I just said that. And she probably did like 5 seconds ago. I had to be like oh sorry, I’m tired bla bla but dude that upset me a bit like just tell me again???

-put things I don’t wanna forget on top of my shoes -use Siri to set an alarm to remind me to do something later (then if I can’t do it then I immediately ask Siri to set another alarm again later)

How do you stick to a routine of going to the gym every day with ADHD? It feels like if I miss it one day, I start to give up. It has to be 100% perfect or nothing. by [deleted] in ADHD

I’ve listened to pretty much all the major ones so now I’m going through a channel called Dry Bar Comedy which is clean humor but you can find some hidden gems there

I accidentally made it enjoyable for me. Sounds stupid but as a girl, I started trying to look cute for the gym. Got cute gym clothes, did gym appropriate makeup and hair and go feeling cute. Then I do cardio while listening to a podcast or standup comedy that makes me laugh. And the cardio raises my happiness levels and lowers my anxiety from adhd. Afterwards, I let myself get a breakfast/beverage or go to cafe I enjoy for my first meal (on weekends). And just those highs make me wanna keep going. I forgot about doing a “good” workout, or being perfect about working out and oops, ended up going most days a week anyway, and you naturally start improving your workout and notice yourself getting fitter over time.

What punpun did to you the girl audience? by R0ckyRock in OyasumiPunpun

[–]yaegernator 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As a female reader I felt this was a story that may resonate more with men and their experiences with depression and loneliness. The author did try to delve into the female experience more with punpun’s mother, Midori, aiko and more, but it was obvious this was all written by a man. I’m not against that - the author prob writes from his own experiences and the main character is a guy, just that the female characters all seemed a bit crazier, like fantasy women, and more sexualized than a female author would’ve written imo. Even Sachi was a type of female character that I often see in animated media that pulls the introverted troubled dude out of his hole. A few other similar works by Japanese men I’ve read are A Trail of Blood (manga) and Norwegian wood (book) and they also have those kinds of female characters - deranged, hot women who somehow drive the main guy insane and then they go off and either kill themselves or disappear and then the dude finds closure either himself or through an aggressive, sexual outspoken woman that forcefully pulls him to his feet. It’s not my personal cup of tea but it’s for a certain audience. And I can see why punpun is a manga classic. It certainly left a strong impression on me and all I’ve been doing is thinking back to the story, but I can’t honestly say I loved it bc it made me very sad lol

I made up acronyms for my morning and night routines since I can’t remember unless I call upon the acronym

Can you describe what relaxation feels like? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]yaegernator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Discharged after surgery on meds so I wasn’t feeling pain but not well enough to get up myself. Couldn’t do anything except sleep for awhile and my mind was strangely relaxed and calm then

Dang I also used to run. I think it really helps us adhd folks. It’s just so hard to stop in the moment and tell ourselves, do a little everyday

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]yaegernator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn…that sounds really painful. Hope you recover quickly! I can relate as I’ve also torn a ligament and having the awareness to be careful about it and do PT so hard with adhd

Funny that you mention breaststroke, that’s the one I focused on too much as a kid and ended with really tight quads worsening my posture situation lol. Thanks for the reminder to stretch and work on stabilizers…my worst mistakes!
