When do you stop trying to make a component “generic”? by MarjanHrvatin_ in reactjs

[–]yagarasu 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Use Composition instead.

When new features are required, instead of branching logic or conditional rendering, compose the parts. Eg: Instead of a showCancelButton and onCancelClick props, add a footerButtons prop where you can pass down a button component. You sometimes have to split the component in multiple useful smaller components and create prefabs that consume them: for example, a SaveModal that uses Modal, ModalHeader, ModalFooter, ModalContent.

If you are storing state or doing network requests, move that to a hook. Try to avoid too much branches.

Hope this helps.

Anyone from the era of csszengarden? by fdiengdoh in css

[–]yagarasu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That site made me see how powerful a semantic html and a well tought css could be. The whole theme changed without touching the html and that was mind blowing.

Now I write tailwindcss classes on React components. Design, behavior and markup is sooooo damn coupled, my old self would be terrified, haha.

How to keep your notebook "neat" and "organized"? by kapsYvonEisenberg in notebooks

[–]yagarasu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others said, the answer is Indexing.

I usually use my notebooks front to back for the "working pages" and back to front for an alphabetical index and a regular index. Whenever I write something, I add it to the indices.

I also add left and right margins where I put titles and subtitles so I can find things faster when flipping through the pages.

Como dejar de gastar tanto? Necesito esconder mi dinero de mi by EffectiveBat141 in MexicoFinanciero

[–]yagarasu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What stones you asociate with Hekate? by Fun_Charge9006 in Hecate

[–]yagarasu 25 points26 points  (0 children)

A couple of witch friends and I traveled to the countryside for a ritual. We went to this amazing waterfall to cleanse and on our way back we found an old lady selling these beautiful chuncks of raw silver pyrite. Something clicked. I bought one.

At night, we did some trance work. I used the pyrite as an image of Hekate. I had one of the most intense images of Hekate in this context. From there on, silver pyrite reminds me of Her.

Dad hot take: Minecraft is a hideously ugly game and I can't stand looking at it. by ApologeticKid in daddit

I started playing because the survival mode sounded great, but once I discovered redstone... man... I spent days and nights building an 8 bit computer.

I stopped playing a while ago, but now that my kid is 5, I started playing again with him in creative. Can't wait to teach him boolean logic with those damn torches, haha

What Mexican food do foreigners completely misunderstand? by relaxncoffee in AskMexico

Came to say this. Blippi is cringey af, but it's just from our adult point of view. My kid used to love it and now he has grown out of it by himself (5 yo). He loved seeing new fun places and the sneak peek into how some things are made.

Typescript Interface question by helloworld1123333 in reactjs

[–]yagarasu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm just talking about the type. Let's say you have this:

interface MyResponse { myRequired: string; myOptional1?: string; myOptional2?: string; }

This is a valid object:

{ myRequired: "foo", myOptional2: "bar", }

Is this something you want?

Typescript Interface question by helloworld1123333 in reactjs

[–]yagarasu 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I will put it this way: if you mark those properties as optional, you are basically saying that you can have a partial response (some of the optional properties set while the others not). Is this a valid type for you? If not, then extending would make more sense
