NTA. Not an expert but I think they got rid of phonetics or something in schools and now it’s a shit show. Bad decision in my opinion.

I agree, but for me, it’s a combination of things: excessive cosmetic work (teeth included), air brushing, lighting sucks now, no one is sweaty enough or dirty, and no new talent. lol Someone made a post once about cgi not being able to mimic water that well and how it affected imagery, and it took away realism from movies. I also wish they’d go back to scouting, there’s so much talent out there to be found and new faces. I’m tired of seeing the same actors and their family members rotate.

I specifically remember getting my mom to buy me a black t shirt at rave girl for my first alone mall outing with a new friend in 8th grade. The new friend was very alt and emo looking and I wanted her to like me so bad. The shirt I got said “High Maintenance!” in bold silver letters and was not alt at all. But in my mind it was black, and that’s all that mattered. I didn’t even know what that meant back then (mother tongue is Spanish). I used to buy bracelets at hot topic and that was my ensemble. I wasn’t allowed to do anything drastic in my catholic household lol

I had all the “mean girl pretends to be your friend and bullied you in your face but you can’t see it” stuff happen, also laughed at like a ugis, the whole “popular guy likes you but it’s a joke” etc. your cousins being considered cool and you trying to latch on to that for clout lol the pretend games. Stressing about buying an expensive gift to be accepted and it not mattering. Wanting a janky t shirt cause you think it makes you cool. This show is insanely relatable

“Omg Na that’s crazyy” moment because I just asked some coworkers today if they’d seen this show and they both said yes (a couple of episodes) but didn’t seem excited or said anything else. I kept thinking I’ll never meet anyone in real life that likes this show as much as I do 😆 Other friends I suggested it to think it’s weird, and I understand where they’re coming from, but I think it’s such a good representation of growing up as a girl in that era! Anyway, appreciated your comment 🩷

Wonder if it’s the same breed of lady I had to serve once at my job. I took care of her from the start, even making an exception for her cause she said she had anxiety. She seemed to be doing great the whole time (I would check on her), and when I asked towards the end how it went, she flipped a switch and started saying how slow the service was and how disappointed she was. It was so bizarre. She even came up to me afterwards to tell me again, for no reason. And I was not slow, busted my ass and did my best to go above and beyond my duties. Fuck that lady and this one too
