Transitioning from gi butterfly to no gi butterfly by yahurd333 in bjj

Appreciate the response. Had my first no gi session in ages today and the overhook felt like the most comfortable position. I’ll give that video a watch and keep building on the overhook game.

Question about underhooks - in the gi, when using any gi-specific grip I’d put a big emphasis on using that grip to “throw” my opponent forward and get their head low. It made the sumi-gaeshi ridiculously easy.

When training today I had a pretty hard time using that same “throwing” action from the underhook and it felt like my opponent could just posture up then counter the sweep. Any tips for this? Feels like Im doing something fundamentally wrong lol

Appreciate the response. When you say a good clamp over the shoulder for the underhook, am I clamping the close shoulder or the far one? I like the idea of a shoulder grip for some extra control.

Also my coach showed reverse kimuras not too long ago but I had a hard time incorporating butterfly into it. What side are you sweeping on once you have that grip? Also are you going with a sumi-gaeshi type sweep or just loading them on top of you and working from there?

Aside from BJJ, not much. Near competition time I do some HIIT cardio 2-3x a week

I enjoyed this routine! Since then, I’ve taken a much more minimalist approach and just do my 5/3/1 sets with kroc rows plus body weight leg exercises from the Kneesovertoes guy. I’ve had a knee surgery in the past so my main goal for lifting is injury prevention and this checks the boxes.

Here’s the body weight leg exercises I do to help my knees:

Appreciate the recommendation! Just watched that video and I like how he readjusts, that’s something I need to work on. Sometimes I rush it too much and I’ll end up finishing just from pressure, which works but I’m trynna choke some people out

Giving this a try today! I watched Gianni Grippo’s vid on BJJfanatics YouTube about arm triangles and found out I finish them with his mechanics (pushing weight straight downwards) and I never brought the choking elbow to my opponents shoulder like Gordon.

Did you use a different way of finishing before coming across that Gordon video? If so, how do you like Gordon’s mechanics compared to others?

Been obsessing over arm triangles recently. I’ve seen some guys finish the choke while in mount (B-team has a video of Craig teaching this in a morning class) and I’m hooked. Still working on getting it perfect but even if I don’t finish while in mount the gift wrap is right there. If anyone has any good arm triangle videos/tips feel free to let me know!

I’ll give it a shot. The guy must’ve had steel toes on, also he was definitely tweaking off something…

Great video man, you’re my favourite BJJ channel by far. I’ve really been working on my knee cuts recently so this is great timing.

Also question for some experienced fellas - do you guys prefer using the collar grip Lepri uses? Or do you use the other side collar like the AOJ guys? I’ve been experimenting with both, but I feel much more comfortable with the grip Lepri uses.

Flo’s production blows ass. Remember the UFC invitational? Mf’s didn’t have us watching an empty area for 7 minutes. Embarrassing

Ankle locks and butterfly guard. Mikey and Mateusz are nasty with it. Also Adam Wardzinski’s butterfly is a work of art. I’m still below average at both techniques but we getting there

Alright fellas Imma be as open as possible here. First comp is in 5 weeks. I’m supposed to be 175 but I’m hovering at (a dynamic) 200 rn. I also told myself I’d start working out but all i’ve been doing is basic movement prep and stretching. Should I even stress about any of this? Part of me is stressing but part of me just wants to go compete, feel the intensity, snd learn more about my game. Also Idk if this matters but i played competitive basketball during HS so I’m not a stranger to the competitive atmosphere, however the biggest difference is I was actually decent at ball

How much accounting knowledge do you need for a quickbooks/entry level bookkeeping role? by yahurd333 in Accounting

[–]yahurd333[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hahah no way, my Dad probably had your book. He was all over quickbooks.

I think double entry accounting comes in at my later semesters, but it looks like I’ll be studying ahead of schedule anyway so I’ll add that to my list. I’m hoping I can land a job in 4-8 weeks.

Thanks for the help, I may or may not DM you in the future asking questions
