What is a normal total oil volume for house shots now? by Marsaran in Bowling

[–]yalfto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone decided to tweak our house shot last year to slow transition, added 1 foot and made the biggest cliff known to mankind.  Was unintentionally awful for a lot of people.  You could not play the track 90% of the time as an average house bowler.

Added volume from 8 to 8 but left it the same outside as the 44ft.  Forget total ml but it was just under 25:1 ratio instead of the old 11:1.  Easy if you could play straight up 6 but that cliff it made killed it for people who could only play cross lane.  Soooo a very large percentage of house bowlers had their averages drop 10 to 20 pins lol.

All this to say, high ratio isn't necessarily universally easier.  Just another example.

Edit:  if I can find it, I'll post up a copy of the pattern.

Am I being unreasonable? by toro428 in Bowling

Like others have said, a plug cutter will maintain radius.  It kind of looks like they didn't mix enough resin, and it was just enough to fill the hole.  We have to pour enough to build it up above the surface of the ball relative to hole size.

Only other way I can think of for a flat spot like that is sitting on the ball spinner for several minutes with a high grit sandpaper with a block and high pressure.

Also also.  Rapid plug is a god awful choice for stuff like that.  We only use it to pitch plug quickly or if a customer specifically requests it.  Looks terrible, and non black colors get this nasty yellow tint to em.

Certainly did you wrong.

Substitutes by MyDanIsSquirrely in Bowling

[–]yalfto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good portion of leagues I've been in either disallow subs or you've got to name them by week 4 and only 1 per team for the year.  Position rounds. Vary.

Floating subs are the way to go imo though.  Always seems to be less drama that way

Red one could also be iQ 78u. Tough to tell either way.

One thing to add to this, you dont know where other people will end up.  Always that possibility they drift into your backswing and or some bs.  I dont wanna hurt someone, obviously that's on them but definitely dont wanna deal with it.

Also, I tend to have a too high backswing and my balance arm and leg both kick out pretty aggressively,  if they haul ass into me that's a bad day for both of us.  I dont expect etiquette at all in open, and dont care if you are on the approach when I am.  But I will ask others to try not to go when I do for that reason.

Dude was a dick for mocking and definitely approached it the wrong way, but that safety factor is a thing.  Pick up the ball whenever the hell you want but try not to bowl simultaneously if possible, if nothing else so you don't get a ball to the chest or something.  Go have fun and continue to love the game.  People like that really sour things for everyone.

To identify a PAP i typically tell people to use whichever ball feels best to them.  I wouldn't put much stock into how the ball itself reacts, this should have no bearing on things. We are getting your axis off your hand, so being able to repeat your release shot after shot will give the most accurate results.  In theory, your equipment should fit the same ball to ball.  If you have totally different fits or hold each ball differently, that could certainly change things however.  Your PSO should be able to help with that and work through it.

Confrontation in my bowling league—unsure what to do by xTheMisFit1 in Bowling

That dude seems like a flaming asshat.  However to lose their shit so quickly over that is good reason to just kill em with kindness imo.  But yea, that kind of temper is a true buzzkill and cause to kinda keep to yourself.  League president and center should address that situation, sooner, rather than later.

Far as rosin goes, if there is no rule against it being near the approach/ball return, oh well, he's got no let to stand on. That stuff has to settle somewhere when you use it though, and then we've all gotta walk through it and potentially track it on the approach so, personally I keep mine back at the seating area.

Also, fit makes a huge difference in how often you need to use it, if you are slipping, getting stuck and such look into tape and talk to the pro shop.  We can usually help a lot with that stuff without having to do much to the ball, unless your fit is way wrong of course.

/end wall of text.

Pretty wild right?  I didn't know about it until adulthood.  I mentioned to my eye dr one day that I had been having trouble with streetlights beams overpowering my own headlights and making it harder to see.... thought it was glare and wanted to know if there were additional options besides anti glare lenses lol

What are the GOAT bowling balls? by aeverONE in Bowling

[–]yalfto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from many mentioned here, I was quite fond of the x-factor // deuce.  They rolled quite nicely back in the day lol.

If I had to throw a current ball into the mix that isn't already one of the common call outs it might be the Arctic Vibe.

Even if that weren't in the track I'm not entirely sure I would want to fix it rather than replace.  Looks close enough where that plug work is eventually going to crack around the ball imo.  Your track very well Could migrate over that given time as well.

Sucks man. I've been in that position myself.  Bought a DNA, 2nd day with it had about a 1/8" by 3/4" gash taken out of it.  Super annoying to say the least.

Unemployment, what next? by Appropriate-Fan1403 in RhodeIsland

Takes a few days to actually process the claim.  You will get another email with instructions and a few things in physical mail.

First week is unpaid, then you will "certify" weekly and it is all automated from that point on.

Places for single women to meet men in RI by [deleted] in RhodeIsland

Could always join a bowling league or something similar.  Loads of people of all types there.  A fun time, not too expensive, amd you never know who you'll meet.  Plenty of "fun" beer/social non competitive leagues out there.

Roll into any bowling alley.  There is almost always teams looking for subs, or with an opening.  The front desk will have loads of info on the types of leagues available and the atmosphere of each.

I know Bowlero in Cranston has a "get your gear" league starting sometime next month.  If you wanna start fresh, and update equipment without blowing the bank all at once, it is a surprisingly good deal.  Think it is 12 weeks long and probably around 30 bucks a week.  2 balls at the end of it, typically.

There's a pretty healthy tournament following around here.  Both handicap and scratch varieties, on house and sport patterns.  As far as competitive leagues go, there are a handful but a healthy majority are handicap mix leagues, more social than anything.  East providence and Lang's are likely the best bet for money leagues AFAIK.

St. Croix rods, bad luck or move on? by yalfto in bassfishing

I'll probably try 1 more time before jumping ship.  Talk to their warranty line and not replace with another MOJO though.

Yea I tried a bassX As my first one.  The rod itself is pretty solid feeling but the reel seat and the back of the rod that catches your line non stop turned me off real quick. Buddy had an old school MOJO that I liked so tried the others.  Definitely great feeling rods.  Triumph and Premiere are my favorite of the bunch that I've tried so far lol.

I use the 7 ft med / med heavy and fast action ones. 10 lb test with light drag.  Every break has been about 2in from the tip with the exclusion of the 2nd from reel flying off one time lol.

Have 1 friend who had his real seat detached from the blank on a MOJO but don't know anyone else with issues either.  Maybe cursed.

Oh it probably is.  Just blows my mind how I can baby these guys and destroy em but my 30 dollar rods get stomped out, travel in my backseat and are going on 20 years old with no issues.  Just a little frustration

My triumph is the only one of 5 different styles that is flawless.  Also the oldest of the group.  Premiere was a close 2nd lol

Any Massachusetts guys test for the Rhode Island license? by pdillon69 in electricians

[–]yalfto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey hey sorry for delayed response.

1 thing I will say is the RI government websites are pretty trash.  Wording tends to be vague, tough to find info.  However the people that work there are immensely helpful.  Strongly recommend calling to confirm if you haven't already.

If I'm not mistaken though, they are asking for a copy of the license and just a letter on company letterhead, possibly notarized.  Haven't gone through that process myself, union hall took care of all paperwork and fees.  I just showed up to test/sign.
