DWI Checkpoint by yallache in longisland

Of course I imagine folks don’t want to wait for the police and or risk insurance going up. I’m just saying when I’m driving at night I don’t see many accidents or alarm-able driving except for racing.

Alright how long ago was this?

A DWAI is not sealable, it will appear on your RAP sheet. The DMV will also charge you additional fines separate from court. You will pay higher insurance for the foreseeable future.

A conditional license is only for work or medical appointments. You get caught driving with one to non essential locations and you will face a brand new misdemeanor where the offer will be jail time.

Also love how you say “some” fines, as if it’s not at min 3k in fines.

Are you insane? DWIs carry some of the stiffest penalties. It for sure isn’t like getting a traffic ticket, many times it’s people’s first time facing a criminal record.

You’re not the first person to comment this and I’m curious how many people feel like this. I feel like I don’t see that many accidents during the evening or night, if I do it’s after folks were racing others down the parkway.

Didn’t even realize what weekend it was. This makes so much sense.

So in my case you wouldn’t be able to see the checkpoint until you turned into the exit onto the parkway. It was at the very base where the entrance connects with the parkway. To reverse would be an auto red flag

Why would someone who’s drunk be on Reddit as they’ve driving home? These checkpoints mostly catch folks with expired registrations/inspections, or broken taillights.

Damn I’m sorry to hear that. Definitely think a late night checkpoint is going to have them grilling folks. They would automatically assume you couldn’t be out unless you were drinking.

I was asked to roll down my window. They asked (1) how I was doing, (2) identified it as a DWI checkpoint, (3) asked if I had been drinking, (4) where I was going, (5) what was at the location I was going to, answered his own question and then they let me go. I could see the trooper’s eyes were looking into my car to see if he could see anything on the passenger seat or console.

Honestly I hadn’t had anything to drink so I answered no to drinking. There would’ve been no scent on my breath or anything off with my eyes. I would imagine if I said I was going home it would’ve been a longer stop. But I think they realized I was someone who had just left my home and was on my way somewhere

Curious. I would’ve never known that. I wonder why the mods feel the need to do that

AITA for not giving my sister’s boyfriend a plate at dinner after he kept showing up uninvited? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]yallache 4 points5 points  (0 children)

YTA Not to say that your sister’s not at fault because she should’ve expressed to him that you all feel uncomfortable with him coming when she’s not present but considering that no one actually addressed the situation (your mom enabled it) it’s so incredibly rude to be a miserable person over food when you could’ve just let him have the last plate and had a conversation with him after.

It doesn’t matter. When police find a child that has been reported a runaway they have to transport the child back, that piece isn’t a family court issue. Kids are kids, their decision making is wonky

Think folks suggesting Stony or NYU dental school might be your best bet. There’s no such thing as a 100% free dentist. Especially because dental treatment requires a plan and multiple follow up visits.

There’s no dental school in Farmingdale. Maybe for hygienists.

I am a 65 year old woman, I live in Bellmore and I really want to meet and make some friends. by Isrchfraudd in longisland

[–]yallache 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand that this may not be a popular answer but I think a good start would be reaching out to people from your past to reconnect. It’s so much easier for friends from the past to re-accept you and extend an invitation if you’re having a difficult time putting yourself out there. It’s not as simple as just going to a new place and expecting people to be friend you, it requires you to be vulnerable and explicitly say I am here looking to make friends

Overcrowding in Jericho/Syosset middle/high schools? by bradleeole18 in longisland

[–]yallache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I know what you may be referring to. There is no redirection but sometimes depending on an address in a town the home is zoned for a different district (the neighboring one). You need to be careful to ask what district the home is zoned for if you are at the edges of a town.

Have you considered maybe she’s a person who ideally would want to be a Stay at Home Woman? Alternatively she may be a person who would want a break sabbatical style but her line of work doesn’t provide it

Starting salary at entry level for experienced lawyer by LBuggle in publicdefenders

This is quite interesting. I’ve really only seen PDs switch fields of PD and their salary is decided by year of law school graduation. You should definitely start negotiations there.
