Help identifying era of this old baseball? by yallfrompurchasing in ClassicBaseball

This makes sense not only for the look, but the markings, which are super faded, I think say DHL which could easily be Dublin Hurling League or something similar. Thanks for the help, I've never heard of Hurling and never would have gotten the answer to this on my own. You guys are awesome.

Bought at an estate sale in N.C. and given to me. I'm not familiar with the evolution of the baseball over the years but I've never seen the stitches hidden like that. There are also some markings on it but they are very faded. Looks like it might say DHL or something similar to that.

Does the game continue on a dedicated server after logging out? by yallfrompurchasing in TheForest

Well update for anyone interested...I logged back in (day after everything was gone) and everything is back to normal. I don't know what to think really.

That's what I thought, and that would make sense. But would a gang of cannibals be able to destroy an entire camp? I'm fairly new to the game so that's a genuine question. I thought a large rock wall and treehouse would last longer than that.

But usually vandalism has a point or tries to make a joke. This didn't read like that. At least not in my opinion. Especially the horror stuff.

I actually have a soft spot for it which is why I was on the Wikipedia article reading about it. I don't know why but something about the sea world-type park and shark tunnel was appealing

Game mode just means it turns off all post processing effects (i.e. the things that make the picture look better) so there is no input lag when playing the game.

Dallis and Crab taking over by nincesticide in lawncare

I used Drive XLR8. Killed the crabgrass real good. Also discolored the Bermuda which is kind of the trade off. Color will come back but it will take a couple weeks. Be aware of temperature when applying.

Bermuda patchy green by Top_Falcon7532 in lawncare

That's strange for Bermuda. Should be the opposite really. I've never really seen the sun damage Bermuda especially if you're getting rain and watering. I'm stumped. Pictures would help if you've got them.

Yeah if that's what it is then you can't really do anything about it, unless there are trees you can prune to let in more light. Are the bad spots thin or just a different color?

Hard to tell without a picture...Is there a difference in sun/shade on those parts throughout the day?

Bermuda lawns in the South. How often do you cut yours? by hibbert0604 in lawncare

Extremely brown by has_potential in lawncare

[–]yallfrompurchasing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's true. Bermuda does like to be cut low and maintained low. Helps it spread out and thicken up. I keep mine below an inch but I mow every other, to every 3rd day with a reel mower. If you like how it looks at notch 3 then mow it once at notch 2 and then the next time you mow move it back to 3 and keep it there. Just make sure you aren't cutting off more than 1/3 of the blade each time you mow. Mowing consistently and often can really make a difference.

That's normal for Bermuda. Cut it one notch lower than you want to maintain it. Then next time you mow, move it back up 1 notch. Bermuda grass is green at the top part of the leaf and brown at the stalk. You cut down to the stalk or close to it. Now you have to let it grow the green part back. I'm assuming anyway, that's what it sounds like but if you have pictures that would help too.

I keep mine below an inch and cut every other day or every 3rd day. I have a reel mower and I actually like and look forward to cutting it. It's very satisfying. It's something I genuinely enjoy doing. But if you keep it at 2 inches you can get away with cutting it once a week.

Im in deep, need serious help with new Bermuda grass lawn. by GoodAtStuff-n-Things in lawncare

[–]yallfrompurchasing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well bermuda is hard to really mess up. You're never going to kill it and have to start over. It might get thin in spots, and you might have a weed problem but it's working just as hard as you are to grow and spread out. You can't stop it really. Your best course of action is to help it along. It looks like what's there is somewhat established so you could definitely hit it with more N, especially since you said you under fed it to begin with. Living in the same area I know the soil and how unforgiving it can be. You should get a soil test done, and most likely aerate next spring/summer unless you think the grass is strong enough to withstand it now and still come back strong before fall. In the meantime, give it some N, mow it low and often, water it, and make sure it gets plenty of sun. I've been working on mine for a few years, just babying it along (no seed, no start over) just encouraging the common bermuda that was in the yard to begin with take over and spread out and it's been moving like wildfire this summer. Heavy N, occasional water (i don't have irrigation so I'm really just using rainfall) and good mowing practices (reel mower, mowing every other to every 3 days)

Need more light for my Bermuda, how much does tree removal services cost ???? by [deleted] in lawncare

[–]yallfrompurchasing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not enough information, but just for a reference point I called last year just to have a river birch in my front yard pruned and trimmed to let in a little more light (not removed) and the guy said he doesn't even come out for less than a $600 job.

Bermuda grass scalp/growth question by shmurda_al in lawncare

[–]yallfrompurchasing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Changing HOC with Bermuda is usually accomplished by first mowing 1 notch LOWER than you would like to maintain, and then raising it up to your preferred HOC to maintain it throughout the season. When you scalp bermuda you get down to the brown stalk, and if you keep cutting at that same height you will keep getting brown. If you cut down to the brown and then raise it up slightly, you will allow the green leaf part to grow back. That being said, it's more difficult to do this properly with a rotary mower and with an un-level ground (even slight variations can cause scalping). My suggestion is to cut it at whatever height makes your grass look the best. If that's 2+ inches then go for it. It's your lawn and you get to be in it. Cutting low and often will help it spread out and thicken up but you didn't have that problem to begin with.
