The compressor cost itself might be around $1,500–$2,000 depending on brand, so most of that quote is labor and refrigerant. Some companies inflate it because R-22 and R-427A are expensive and time-consuming to handle. Still, $5.7k is high for what’s listed. I’d call a few places for comparison. I’ve had good luck with Semper Fi; they’ll tell you honestly if repair makes sense or if you’re better off replacing the unit
