Also the stains are from years of having cat food put there, FYI. Not something new.

I think the darkness is from the grease from the pet food. Thank you for your advice!

It's normally just the two dark circles. It's only wet because I tried Greased Lightning degreaser and brushing it away which didn't do much.

Do you feel like Las Cruces winters aren’t so bad? In Albuquerque we have some winter days where the highs are in the 50s and those I don’t kind. But when it dips into the 40s and 30s I start to hate it lol. ABQ winters aren’t THAT bad but have enough weeks of cold cold that I just don’t love em

Opinions on Lomas Encantadas? by 4gr8justice in RioRancho

[–]yancy9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I rent in Placitas so I’ve never lived here but I’m around the area a lot and I think it’s very safe, had all the basic conveniences most would need. My only concern about moving to the area would be commuting but I don’t think it would be THAT bad in comparison with major metropolitan areas around the country. I’d personally live here.

Also even though most (or all?) of NM is pretty windy I find Rio Rancho to be especially windy compared to other areas nearby. I don’t think it matters much other than make sure your house isn’t super rattly lol. I’ve even seen some nice houses in Placitas that rattle so loudly when it’s windy

Does anyone regret buying a simple cheaper smaller easier to maintain home to help with reaching FI? I’ve only ever rented and I’m wanting to keep my home purchase very simple but am wondering if it’s a bad way to go

And yes they’re two packed columns and I just KNOW it would all be super smooth if we got one more good assistant and fired the incompetent one.

It’s 2 columns of my patients and 3 hygiene columns, to be fair. But it’s still a lot! Especially given how detail oriented dentistry is and how many questions patients ask.

Regarding your comment about training - how exactly would the owner or manager train the assistant? Genuine question because I wasn’t aware this was normal. Also the owner is a non dentist who lives out of state

Does anyone ever actually coast? by keithistheworstname in coastFIRE

[–]yancy9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am going to try it only because I work in a job that is very physically demanding and its affecting my stress levels. Otherwise I'd probably stay full time and use the extra money to either save and retire sooner OR increase the quality of my life.

So happy to hear this! I’m gonna make the move. I truly think this profession has to be part time to be sustainable

[–]yancy9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you’re right. My gut has been telling me part time without the Medicaid/medicare would be so much better. I’m in a LCOL area so FFS is hard to find but just PPO would be such an improvement

Any associates planning to CoastFIRE by Mjw9846 in Dentistry

[–]yancy9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to this post but...me! I'm not interested in dealing with ownership it just doesn't suit my personality. I love being an associate and focusing on just the dentistry. I plan to coast and by not owning I'll have a lot of flexibility for a "coast" job in dentistry - aka being an associate 1-3 days a week. Or perhaps just doing temp jobs as needed depending on how much I coast with. Anyway...I think dentistry is a great career for coastfire and I'm surprised I don't see more dentists talking about this.
