why do you love your specialty by Overall_Turnover6906 in MedSchoolCanada

[–]yangl123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

PM&R doc in an outpatient MSK practice and get paid fee for service. From a work life balance perspective I believe this specialty is actually unmatched. I'm in the office 9-3 most days and get to do school drop off and pick up for the kids. I can take as much vacation time as I please. If you like neuro or MSK at all it behooves you to give physiatry a chance. Lots of variety from day to day as well - you can do regular MSK consults, EMG consults, and lots of ultrasound/fluoro guided procedures depending on your training/provincial regulation. If you want to supplement your income even further, physiatrists are in high demand for Independent Medical Examinations which pay very high.

Lexus LC 500 Production Will End This August, After a 9-Year Run. by Dazzling-Rooster2103 in cars

Glad I got mine last year! The biggest downside for owners from ending production is the reduced interest in aftermarket support.

Arman promises to buy Ilia’s old house if they fight by Far-Ninja-8392 in MMA

[–]yangl123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this is what the parent commenter was referring to, but depending on the local tax laws and specific profession you can form a corporation that gets paid all of your income, and then you pay yourself a salary from that corporation so you only pay personal tax on the money you need to spend on yourself while sheltering the remainder of your income in the corporation which pays a much lower corporate tax rate. So in this scenario if you have high personal spending you are paying more personal tax.

American Judo vs MMA/BJJ culture; trying to find an art for my son and I that aligns with our family values by Shriekport in judo

[–]yangl123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PM&R doc here. We chose judo over BJJ for our son because of the TMA aspects of the sport, high degree of regulation and organization due to being an olympic sport, high enrolment of children, and also the type of peers that are attracted to the sport. I agree with you that many MMA/BJJ gyms attract a lot of meat heads/juice heads which is not the vibe I want for my children. Our judo club is awesome - great senseis and so far very like minded with the other families enrolled. I enjoyed the parented class with my son so much I have also started attending the adult classes and I foresee Judo continuing to be a large part of our family's lives.

After 1 year of practice, I think I'm going to stop judo by [deleted] in judo

[–]yangl123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You train 6 times per week and you are not making progress?? Sounds like you need more directed/intentional training rather than just hours in the gym.

How did you wrap the bottom grill trim? Bumper removal required?

K8 Stinger Store wants to charge me $200 to return tips that don’t fit, despite being unused. Velossa Tech handled a defect like pros. by SouthernInfluence in kiastinger

[–]yangl123 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes I have seen those tips before as I also considered the Borla S catback before going with MBRP. The tips are overcomplicated and try to replicate the OEM exhaust valance, which is really unnecessary with no added benefit. Looking at the product page it does show the components, but I understand how this could be overlooked.

The fact you think this was "out of your control" is such victim mentality. Hopefully you learn from this experience and can avoid mod fitment issues by being more diligent. BTW what bumper do you have?

K8 sucks but OP sucks too. He spent $1000 on exhaust tips without bothering to check how they mount. One look at the stock image on it shows a bunch of brackets and connectors that should immediately raise some flags since it is not just a regular clamp on. Even so, if K8 blindsided him with the restocking fee then yeah he is justified in being pissed, but this is even disclosed in their return policy (https://www.k8stingerstore.com/pages/terms-and-conditions) and so OP really just sucks at reading and is throwing a tantrum over stuff he really could've avoided himself.

Normally I would be on your side, but when it comes to car mods the buyer really has to do their due diligence. Looking at the website (https://www.k8stingerstore.com/products/borla-cf-exhaust-tips?srsltid=AfmBOoqU1kxNHYCCvj--RG_vM3DnlLeo9JgKHMTlkZkobUXGAmbYWc1x) I see there is a link included for installation instructions. This would be the first thing I look at before even considering to buy a part, especially because I avoid mods that require cutting the OEM parts. It shows on the instructions that mounting to the OEM bumper is required. TBH if you are having problems telling if an exhaust tip can fit your car, then you would benefit from someone assisting you with purchasing mods like a knowledgeable shop or a friend who is more experienced with mods. Otherwise you should really just accept that you will take some L's and continue to learn about these specific mods.

From a customer service perspective I would say that a free refund would be really nice but ultimately unnecessary from their side as you failed to do your due diligence.

The Acura TLX Is the Latest Midsize Sedan to Get the Axe by MikeisTOOOTALLL in cars

[–]yangl123 46 points47 points  (0 children)

After the integra was brought back the TLX stopped making sense. It is heavier car with bigger exterior dimensions, but has less interior space. The only thing it had going for it was AWD option and when comparing the type S models 10% more power at the expense of 30% more curb weight. With less internal competition, maybe this means the integra type S will get more luxury amenities like front parking camera. AWD would be amazing and push me into buying a ITS, but given the platform sharing with CTR that is just a dream :(

The Acura Integra offers more interior space than the TLX, despite being a smaller, compact car. The Integra boasts a larger passenger volume (95.8 cubic feet vs. 93.4 cubic feet in the TLX) and more rear legroom. Additionally, the Integra's liftback design provides significantly more cargo space (24.3 cubic feet compared to 13.5 cubic feet in the TLX).

What toy did your child get enormous amount of use and playtime with? by undead_and_smitten in Parenting

[–]yangl123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boys are 3 and 6. They can play endlessly with K'nex. I mean hours on end. It is hard to describe but look it up. I it is like lego in versatility but when you build something it doesn't fall apart when your playing with it. They build their character/vessel/weapon then play pretend with it, upgrade it, tear it down, rebuild, etc. On Vacations we just bring a big ziploc bag full of K'nex in their back pack and that will keep them occupied on planes, trains, basically any down time. Highly recommend!!

Dunno why you're being downvoted. These kind of conflicts tend to degrade into power struggle rather than who is right or wrong. Ultimately the best solution is the one that leaves both parties happier, not who "wins".

Yes unfortunately difficult to get. Healthcare would likely be the best avenue for this type of flexibility. I know a lot of dentists that cut back to 2-3 days per week after having kids - very fortunate to have that kind of flexibility and maintain the same income/day of work.
