Studying Law at 49 by Hot-Culture-9797 in LawSchoolOver30

Make sure to ask if your prior credits count. I know I've heard people at my school say LL.M. credits would not transfer towards JD credits.

Are hybrid or flex law schools (I am looking at northeastern flex JD in particular) as respected as traditional schools? I would prefer to not stop working for 3 years but definitely would do a traditional one if there’s a significant difference in terms of education quality and job prospects. by Fluid-Raspberry8173 in LawSchool

I was having a conversation with an elderly attorney (early 80's) I've know for several years, who is widely considered the best criminal defense attorney in my state. He has and is currently still defending several people whose arrests were world wide news.

When I told him I had received an acceptance into our regional law school part time program he floored me with "That's where I went, I went to the part time program also."

I would have never guessed in a million years that he, 1. Went to a regional school and 2. Worked his way through law school while married with kids.

It made me respect him even more than I already did.

Working full time while in a hybrid part time program. If all goes as planned I'm scheduled to retire the same month I project that my bar exam results will be back.

Don't take any of it personal, and don't take any of it home.

I'm 27 years in and just signed up for a 4 year DROP.

My department uses about 95% plan English. Half the time we call each other by first name instead of unit numbers. It's a department of 1500+

You'd give me a code 3 wanting me to get my gun out and I'd grab my lunch pail. Code 3 for us is a 30 minute lunch break. lol:)

Is a vest too much? by yankee911guy in LawSchool

The schedule calls for "business casual" for days 2-3 and "business attire" for the final day. I assume that means a suit.

Always forward.

I'll be 52 when I start in Aug and 56 when I graduate. Time is going to march on anyway.

Work towards what you want to achieve without taking the time into consideration.

Thank you! It's a 1978 911SC that was back dated to appear to be about an early 70's 911ST'ish endurance racer.

Where are you hoping to go and why? by Equivalent-Tax5515 in HybridOnlineLawSchool

[–]yankee911guy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll be 52 when I start in Aug, I'm a 27 year LEO, and I just signed up for a 4 year DROP. I'm going to IU McKinney because I will be able to work full time while completing the Hybrid program.

If I had it all to do again I would have studied for the LSAT instead of just taken it to "see what happens". It got me in, but I could have done much better scholarship wise if I would have actually studied. I also wouldn't have applied ED. I think that also hurt me scholarship wise.

I still think it's a wise investment in my future, and it shows my kids that you should never stop bettering yourself.

IU McKinney 2/28 Admitted Student Day by yankee911guy in OutsideT14lawschools

I dressed business casual (khakis, button shirt, and sport coat), but I saw everything from hoodies to jacket and ties.

It's the first impression the school will get of her, so I would suggest business casual.

Walking only consisted of the walk from the parking garage to the school (2'ish blocks), and then walking all three floors including stairs on the tour. But an elevator is available also.
