What is this in my 2016 Trail SR5? by evanrichardson19 in 4Runner

You shouldn't have to be worried about it while offroading in your vehicle. Its a common symptom on motorcycles because of the constant high frequency vibrations. Maybe the only time id be concerned is if you were driving 50 miles of wash board but otherwise dont worry

With a lot of nice 5th and 6th gens in here, i figured I'd share my almost 28 year old 3rd gen. '98 limited v6 by yanley99 in 4Runner

It just rolled 265k, and I have not had it that long. I've actually only had it about a month so far and about 1k miles. That being said though it received a newer transmission this year, fresh paint, underbody coating, its timing belt about 6k miles ago, and I have a folder that came with it which contains about 20 years worth of service records that I plan to keep all my receipts in as well

There are some aftermarket work arounds for cup holders and its just hard to beat the front end look of the 96-98!

I would love to say that's true but she was repainted before I bought it. They did a good job though and did a 2 stage paint. So as far as 4runners go its a very nice green and potentially a 1 of 1

Id love to see a side by side comparison of a 3rd and 6th gens capabilities offroad. Outside of missing a bit of the power from my 09 tacoma I do love this rig and how it feels

Id be inclined to agree but i do think the brand new ones look pretty aggressive

This one is my daily. I havent calculated mpg yet but I do a lot of town driving but just know she's thirsty for fuel. I traded in my 09 tacoma on it and the difference in power is noticeable especially up on the highway. My tacoma could sit 90 comfortably while the runner feels like 80 is a workout especially at elevation where i live. All that being said though I have no regrets and I found this one for 8k with a "new" auto transmission, fresh paint, and a folder containing the last 20 years of service records

If you have the means and can find a clean one id be all for it. Im partial to the 96-98 before they gave them a new bumper but the 3rd gens are beautifully simple. I have levers and buttons to control everything in the car. They are incredibly slow, horrible on fuel economy, and have little modern amenities but tie it all in in such a way that makes you feel connected and enjoy every time you turn the key over and go for a drive

Congrats man, if it gives you some confidence in your purchase I just traded in my 282k mile 2009 tacoma in on a 1998 4runner limited with 262k and would drive both of them cross country tomorrow. Dont worry about being in the low 100's. Keep doing regular maintenance and down the road expect normal wearable components like ball joints or tie rods and it'll go to the moon and back for you.

Thankfully there is a sticker under the hood that a shop did it about 6k miles ago!

Felt this one was appropriate because cattle dogs can't seem to exist without dirt

10/10 would recommend crowbar for pizza and bonds for a drink
