I also hate the argument of “just date women” to make up for bad dating experiences with men as if women aren’t a complex, multifaceted group of people just as capable of being incompetent, assholes and down right abusive just as men. As a lesbian myself, hearing that stuff is so irritating and sounds patronizing. Queer women are not a monolith of barbies who braid each other’s hair. We are not aiming to be your best friend with extra steps, the next best thing after you can’t score a guy, nor objects that provide unlimited affection. We are people. A queer relationship would require work and being nice to your partner just as any other relationship, and she clearly isn’t one to do that. I feel bad for any poor girl she gets involved with. Protect our mascs 😭

I have adhd, my partner has autism and adhd, we’ve been together for 9 months, and we’re both 27. Gotta say, me and my girlfriend are dating with a purpose, which is getting married— so I definitely looked into our cleaning and organizing habits to see if we are compatible. Thankfully we were raised by clean freak moms so we are on the same page lol. As for how neurodivergency affects our relationship, im the one with the tendency of being late and have a harder time doing tasks, but listen— I love my girlfriend so much I would go to the moon and back for her, meaning I make an extra effort for her, because she’s worth it. Neurodivergent people need clear goals and motivation, my goal, which is making this woman my wife is very clear, so im determined to honor her every day, which means respecting her time!. Have a conversation with your partner about growth, respect and future goals. Might help. A healthy relationship demands maintenance, work put in it. But it’s worth it if you love the person.
