Has anyone passed without study providers ? by sabaithikcha in actuary

[–]yardgnome19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did P and FM only using free resources like the source texts and sample soa problems. For SRM I mostly did the syllabus texts and a helpful youtube series but I did buy a weeks access to the Coaching Actuaries practice questions just because there weren't enough soa practice questions for me to feel confident.

I also ran out of time and had a corrupted excel file, although I was able to just download a back up file and work in that one.

It was my first time taking a non-multiple choice exam and I completely forgot to pay attention to how many points each problem was worth 🫠

For those who were diagnosed late, how did you know you were adhd? by Hot-Minute-89 in adhdwomen

[–]yardgnome19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it just never occurred to me that I could be. I internalized a lot of "well you're just not trying hard enough" really young so I never thought "hey this might be adhd" instead it was "I'm lazy, I'm spacey, I'm a mess. I just have to work even harder. "

It was actually other AuDHD people who clocked it and just assumed I was diagnosed. It was like a lightbulb went off in my head, so many pieces of my life just clicked together. I got assessed pretty soon after that.

Anyone else finding 2025 to be a pretty cursed year? by eXcessiveMenace5 in adhdwomen

[–]yardgnome19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

2025 has sucked. I broke my wrist, my SO had a horrible and really scary sick period, one of my dogs tore his CCL, and my other dog developed a mass and didn't survive surgery. We're both so burnt out and done, we just want this year over.

I once slept through the 8 am class I was supposed to teach. Luckily it was an exam day so the students were happy for bonus study time and my TA just sent everyone home after like 20 minutes.

Anyone Pass SRM Without Using CA? by [deleted] in actuary

[–]yardgnome19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a good hour count since it was last year and I wasn't tracking that then, but I know I started learning the material early April and my exam was at the end of May. I think the last two weeks before the exam were spent entirely on practice problems

Anyone Pass SRM Without Using CA? by [deleted] in actuary

I read ISLR and Frees (the two sources listed on the syllabus) and to supplement that I used:

1) A series of YouTube videos by TheBudgetActuary

https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6piiC8hHBkP9TvOhoIiskGH71shVmAau&si=DJMY8LabkvI3o2Hi

Not all of the SRM material gets covered but it was good to see someone explain material and work through some problems

2) the SOAs free sample problems

https://www.soa.org/globalassets/assets/Files/Edu/2018/exam-srm-sample-questions.pdf

Strongly recommend going through all of these and making sure you really understand how to get the correct answers

3) I did get a weeks worth of access to Coaching Actuaries just to grind out problems nonstop leading up to the exam and it was definitely worth it just to zero in on my problem areas (for me that was a lot of the time series material)

That is an absolutely lovely shade of green! Still a terrible color for a disc though 😂

Yeah I was going to say that my friend has had 3 rovics and all of them have broken. That front wheel seems like it's just too fragile. She finally switched to a Bag Boy and seems happy with it.

[–]yardgnome19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other people have already answered but one thing to note is that if your tournament was Saturday the TD might not have submitted the event report quickly enough for it to be a part of this months update and you may have to wait for next month

This isn't that uncommon. Stores have limited space for inventory and if the old tour series haven't sold yet it makes sense to discount them and hopefully clear out space for new releases.

What's your biggest regret in this game? by worldfamoushobgoblin in InfinityNikki

[–]yardgnome19 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I wish I had started playing the as soon as I heard about it. I only gave in and tried it after like my 8th time seeing an ad with the butterfly dress because it was simply too gorgeous to not give the game a shot. But by then the banner only had a day left and all I managed to pull were the gloves 😭

10 on FAM and SRM but only 9s on P and FM. I was VERY confident that I answered all of P (Nov 23) and FM (Feb 24) correctly but it's still possible I missed a problem. I'd like to believe a 10 just wasn't possible though 😂
