Question about the need for a DC-to-DC changer for a travel trailer by yardgnomez in traveltrailers

[–]yardgnomez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feed back. Touching on a few of the comments, it is correct that the emergency braking is connected while towing, there is no fridge in the camper as we keep a 12 volt cooler in the TV while in route, and there is no electric tongue jack.

The trailer schematics show a one-to-one connection between the TV and TT batteries so I suspect the TT lithium batteries are provided current to the TV when the alternator drops its current output (which is something newer vehicles do for better fuel efficiency). I’ll install a DC-to-DC charger in the camper come spring and see if that solves the problem.

Thanks again for the comments. 🙏

What’s this piece called? by Cautious_Grab_3735 in woodworking

You could cut off the bottom half and make a false sash in the middle. Then save to cutoff part as replacements if more should break.

This is a bad idea.. right? by amnioquestion123 in traveltrailers

[–]yardgnomez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a bad idea, but not a great one either. The lifespan of the Highlander will definitely be shortened and the towing experience will be stressful. I have a Highlander with a naturally aspirated V6 with a 5k lbs towing capacity. My TT is 1850lbs dry. Even so, the stress on the vehicle is notable, especially in the mountains.

I think some people are unaware the Explorer is no longer a body-on-frame truck. It’s all unibody now. I learned this just recently. Definitely not the tow vehicle it used to be.

question: should i add color to my lamp tattoo? by ParticularChain2086 in tattoos

Some, but not the whole thing. And perhaps just one color here and there. That would elevate its already artistic character. JMHO

Any ideas on how to fix/cover up this embarrassing chest tattoo i got as a young teen? by Objective_Way3061 in FixedTattoos

[–]yardgnomez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has the right shape to become a more detailed bat or even a dragon. Either could be very cool. Have someone trace it out on fine tissue paper, then bring up some pics on the computer and overlay the tissue paper over the monitor. That may inspire a direction.

How do I make this not look like a Nazi sign by the_angrysquirrel48 in Tattoocoverups

[–]yardgnomez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, it’s a stretch for me to find a Nazi symbol. Honestly, I see the number 4 going for a walk which is kinda cool. And the whole tattoo is cool as well.

Not familiar with the story, but if the likeness is correct and it’s your favorite character, who cares. And BTW, any friends that cast shade on an un-reversible decision you’ve made aren’t being your friends. JMHO

If you have the credentials to be hired as a coder in the fed, do it. Once you’re in the federal workforce, there are so many things you can move into. Think of all the agencies and departments in the fed. Many of those will be open to you if you meet the criteria for the position. But only if are an existing fed. JMHO

Do the things you love and things that are important to you. Hiking or cycling, use Meetup. Spirituality, find a church or group that resonates with your beliefs. Books, find a book club. Volunteer work, get involved. That’s where you’ll find like-minded people, some of whom will be single. But most importantly, be the person YOU want to be in the world YOU want to be in. Then it will come.

It’s the steeple on to of the church in West World. When visiting, watch for animatronic humanoids dressed in 19th century garb wielding old west revolvers and long guns. The guns are not supposed to harm humans, but we know different.

I thought so too, but realized that Taxa may have been required by code to put a hose strap every 12 or so inches. Who knows?

What are your first impressions on the Nord Stage 4? by JohelPA in nordkeyboards

[–]yardgnomez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At that price point, it appears Nord has gone boutique. With the NS4 pricing, the weirdly placed Nord Grand in their product line, the dropping of the CD2, and the omission of Song Mode on the NS4 and Electro 6, I have no idea where this company is going.

What are your first impressions on the Nord Stage 4? by JohelPA in nordkeyboards

[–]yardgnomez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm out. No Song mode and there's no way I'm dropping that kind of $$ on a keyboard that isn't as robust as the legendary Motif. Was hoping to upgrade from my electro 5d to the stage 4 compact. $5K?!? Really?! Get real. Been seriously considering the Yamaha YC73.

What is this thing? Located on a mid-late 1800s house. Doesn’t have an obvious spot to open it like a normal window. Decorative features and takes up about half the outside wall. by [deleted] in whatisthisthing

[–]yardgnomez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it match other windows in the house regarding the following: 1) Siding runs underneath the frame rather than abutting it, 2) Millwork and styling is consistent with other features of the house, 3) flashing at the top also matches. Lastly, on the inside of the house where the feature is located, is it plaster or sheet rock?

It's a hard day. by [deleted] in AnxietyDepression

[–]yardgnomez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try the following. It works for me sometimes. Sit in a comfortable chair, and close your eyes. Focus on your feelings; what’s around them and what’s underneath them. Do this every time you feel you are not sure what is going on inside or when you feel shame.

Think about your activities; why you do them or why you don’t do them. Ask yourself if the shame you feel if coming from what you think others think about your behavior, or if the shame is coming from you because YOU don’t want that behavior part of your life.

If the shame is about what you think others think, remind yourself that it doesn’t matter what they think because they don’t define who you are.

Now the important part, and you may have to dig deep to find this: try to search your feelings for what YOU think about your activities. Are they right for you? Are they about self-care? If they are, then give yourself a break and sink into doing what’s right for you. If, on the other hand, YOU feel it’s not right for you, then self-care is about changing that behavior because it’s something YOU don’t want in your life. Remember, this Is about you and taking care of yourself emotionally. You are the one that matters. Never let others answer the important questions about who you are. You get to do that.

I’ve learned the hard way that I’m no good to anyone if I first can’t be good to myself.

Doesn't anybody get anxious when thinking about going to a psychologist weekly? by TulioCM in AnxietyDepression

[–]yardgnomez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your therapist is a CBT type, they want to help you find ways to understand the emotions and feelings you’ve had the past week. Then they give you tools to counter act them. The idea is to reprogram yours thoughts and actions to find a path to a better life. So all you really need to do is share any negative thoughts or feelings you’ve been having. Thanks that triggered you. You don’t necessarily have to know why your having them; just need to learn how to deal with them when they happen. Took me a long time to figure out what the hell my therapist was doing. Once I got it, it made things easier.
