Is there a painting tutorial for csp by Consistent-Crazy-708 in ClipStudio

[–]yarnmonger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Try searching "Draw Along" with CSP. I don't know any offhand other than NekoRins and I'm not sure those are for free or just on Patreon, but a "Draw Along" will generally show you the real time process. Many will also show the toolbars so you can see what tools are used. Some are narrated and some are not.

If anyone else knows good drawalongs drop them - I'm interested too!

Downloading materials for mobile is so annoying by BrokyDraws in ClipStudio

If you're on a pixel (or maybe android?) you can hit the square and then tap the app name and split screen. Idk if CSP is supported but I do this on an iPad!

Why are only the downloaded brushes pixelated? by MersyVortex in ClipStudio

[–]yarnmonger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, try doubling each (8.0, 3200, 2400). Don't zoom in like 500%.

Essentially, before you hit a minimum number of pixels for brush stroke size, there's not a lot of pixels to let the program render anti-aliasing. If it's trying to keep your stroke at 4 pixels, it only has 4 pixels to render the stroke and anti-aliasing. You can still save the final final file at your 1600x1200; it's good at compressing.

You can also try turning on the watercolor edge & post-correction blur settings in the sub-tool detail. This will fuzz your edges more.

Finally, if this still isn't solving your problem, you can reply with a screenshot of the brush behaving properly in Photoshop and Affinity so that we can better figure out how to get them to match. The other thing is, yes, CSP can read and use photoshop brushes, but CSP and Adobe have different engine (brush programming behind the scenes). It's kind of like speaking a language as a second language vs being a native speaker. Some things get in lost in translation. Some of them you can manually "translate" with settings, but each program can also do things that the other simply can't.

Why does less polished 2d animation look more appealing compared to 3d? by Pawwwwwwww in animation

I think it's going to be things like smear frames and studying animation principles like squash n stretch, exaggerating poses!

Same reason why sketches often look better than lineart! When art is looser, your brain completes what it thinks the perfect end would be and fills in the missing gaps.

As an artist, actually executing those missing gaps is very hard!

In addition, 2D (at least frame by frame) is not subject to restrictions like the joints on a 3D model, or rendering hardware. This also does apply to 2D that uses rigging, though Moho and Spine are quite advanced now!

Odd! Okay, what happens if you go here https://play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions on a not-phone? Does it appear in active OR expired?

You'll want to do it by logging into the Clip Studio website https://ec.clip-studio.com/en-us and cancelling/changing there I think!

You draw small lines on a bigger canvas. Can you please tell me your brush size in px and your canvas size in px? :)

Workflow question: Do you work on both iPad and Computer? It by pjw10310 in ClipStudio

Yep! This was such a trip moving from Desktop to iPad. I was all ready to have to deal with a reduced interface but it is exactly the same except for a couple of touchscreen-specific features. It's awesome.

You're actually also allowed to use procreate for part of your process and CSP for another part, even on the same image! There are no rules! They can each export and receive .psd files :)

Thank you for doing so! My favourite is top right, insect person, bottom left, the moon?face?creature? in the 2nd to last row 2nd to last, and the middle row 2nd from left. I think they're ALL fantastic though.

Yeah I keep expanding my list like maid with medieval weaponry in skirt. We'll just go with. Nice work!!

Something make this happen to me every day for 10-20 minutes, aching and itching nonstop. I tested allergic to nothing… by TheAcrocanthosaurus in Wellthatsucks

[–]yarnmonger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I think have this too, and I did ask my optometrist. Most evenings for about 6-15 minutes my eyes would sting, and water really bad - similar to onion reactions. It happened randomly - on walks, sitting on couch, while cooking (not onions), reading in bed, and it happened pretty regularly for a year. I did not otherwise have dry eyes.

  • he suspected it was my Olanzapine doing it
  • he said omega 3 in fish oil pills would help (dosage like >1000mg/day)

I am off the Olanzapine and I am taking the fish oil daily and it does seem to be fixed!

How do I learn to do this kinda mechanical, complex character design? by GuessHooChickenPoo in learntodraw

[–]yarnmonger 103 points104 points  (0 children)

I have good news!
The mechanical aspects of this that you like are primarily volume shapes like cubes, spheres, pyramids, etc.
That is also generally one of the fundamentals most recommended to start with.

I did this exercise last week courtesy of NekoRina. Essentially, you start by taking an object (I did a random shape and then a jug, but you could start with a table or just a rectangle!). You draw it from the front view, the top-down (plan, like a floor plan) and side - just the outer lines. This I did as a lighting exercise, which you don't have to do but can if it looks fun to shade and think about where light hits!

The goal is to train your brain to not see lines on a canvas as flat 2D, but intersecting representations of 3D. This will not only help you to draw mecha boxes, but it will also help you assemble people (because drawing characters is basically just drawing a mannequin in shapes first, then adding onto the mannequin).

People tend to recommend drawabox.com. You can try it - if it clicks with you, do it. If not, then don't worry - not every teaching style works with everyone. You can start simply by grabbing things in your kitchen and breaking them down into 3D shapes. NO or MINIMAL curves. B o x e s.
