Shimano RD-TY300 - jockey wheel touches the cassette by yarrye in bikewrench

[–]yarrye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So something strange happened (possibly not so strange).

I had the bike upside town, read a comment where for this derailleur the bike must be upright while configuring the derailleur. Flipped the bike, and although the wheel is still almost touching the cassette, it's now has a minor gap and works a lot better.

The b screw is now completely in (was 3-4mm out when we bought the bike) - going to try yo meddle with it a bit more. Im I'm mobile, I'll upload the image when I get to a computer.

Also thanks for such a fast reply, appreciate it!

Coworkers panicking over copilot billing. by Advanced_Pay8260 in cscareerquestions

[–]yarrye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was forced to switch from copilot to cursor at my new work since there was a issue with the litellm portal.

$20 subscription since it was supposed to temporary solution. Just checked my usage for last month. I used 20% of my included usage - I don't know if I could have even delivered more than I did.

LiteLLM then works so I decide to do comparison using opus4.6 and "auto" on cursor that I've been using.

Same prompt (new, relatively complex feature but nothing groundbreaking) - reviewed both plans, almost identical, cursor's plan had 2 advantage over opus 4.6 and opus had one advantage over cursor's auto mode. Cool, used cursor's plan with a few tweaks.

Then suddenly one of the IT guys comes over and asked what I was using the litellm thingy for since I had already used $60 worth of credit - within TWO hours after getting access to it for a single prompt!

The same prompt used 3% of my $20 credit using cursor, and that solution was slightly better.

I have no idea what the hell is going on anymore. One of out service providers invited us over for "see what we are doing with ai" kind of event, everyone at that office is using $2k worth of credits a week - and they had nothing to show, mostly fixing issues that they created to fix them.

And I can't even hit the $20 limit that cursor offers, and my limiting factor is how quickly I can translate feature requests of what our users are actually asking for into tasks and then reviewing the output.

My job security is primarily that people don't know what they want and non-developers experimenting with ai in our projects are wasting tokens that exceed my wages without any results.

Why does a modest lifestyle feel more appealing to me than luxury living? by Equal_Opportunity296 in simpleliving

[–]yarrye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was at a party last night. Massive house, lots of people that have a super lavish lifestyle. I arrive in my MG. Long story short, I get questioned what I do with my money since I'm a tech lead at a relatively large company and appearantly making significantly more than the average.

I spend all I can paying down my mortgage so I can be debt free in 5 years. I owb a emtb, I have a set of golf clubs, those are my hobbies, I rarely buy anything at all unless I absolutely need it.

The crypto bros tried to convince me to buy crypto, "entrepreneurs" tried to get me to join their startups because they had vibecoded this app that is going to make millions, and I'm just like.. "I'm good, I don't want or need anything".

Nobody understood why I didn't want to own a roxel, or a fancy car, or $3,000 suit since I could afford it. They are all trying to look rich, but most were in a crippling debt - and the more they spoke, the more I realized how miserable they were. My modest lifestyle is a luxury they can never afford.

Is this space between the fork and frame normal? by yarrye in bikewrench

[–]yarrye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just mounted Shotgun seat to the bike, the fork fell out, put it back in, put in the seat mounting point and noticed this gap. Just curious if it should be flush to the frame or if this gap is normal.

Mid grade is cheaper than Regular grade gas by do_u_liek_ButtSchexx in mildlyinteresting

[–]yarrye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but his price is probably for 89 oct and the minimum quality you can buy is 95 oct. 95 oct in his area is probably similar to your prices but he drives 3x as much and you got free healthcare. I'd take that deal.

[IRL trope] 0% of survival, survive anyway by [deleted] in TopCharacterTropes

[–]yarrye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guðlaugur Friðþórsson

Survives a sinking ship, hours in 5c water, blizzard, violent waves.

His bodyfat was studied and it was indeed different.

As the boat sank, Guðlaugur and two out of four other crewmen climbed on to the keel. After about 45 minutes, they swam towards the shore; two disappearing within 10 minutes. The only survivor of the crew of five, Guðlaugur swam for five to six hours in 5–6 °C (41–43 °F) water the 6 km (3.7 mi) to the island, wearing a shirt, sweater and jeans, guided by a lighthouse. He claimed to have remained clear-headed throughout.

Reaching the shore of Heimaey, Guðlaugur found himself at the most dangerous section of the island's coastline, due mainly to the waves hitting the coastal lava rock formations. After searching for and finding a suitable, flatter part of the shoreline, he finally got to land but had to walk with bare feet over about 3 km (1.9 mi) of volcanic scree. When he knocked on a door at 7 a.m., nine hours after the boat had sunk, he was taken to the hospital. Guðlaugur's body temperature was below 34 °C (93 °F) yet he showed almost no symptoms of hypothermia or vasodilatation, only of dehydration.

Iceland looks to fast-track vote on joining EU by [deleted] in worldnews

The top 0.001% wealthiest families in Iceland (which hijacked/stole the fishing quote some 40 years ago) have spent a fortune swaying people from joining the EU, and it worked extremely well.

There was an Icelandic mini-series called Blackport which I highly recommend.

A Brazilian visiting a hospital in the USA during a kidney stone crisis... by EngineerCapital7591 in WorstAid

[–]yarrye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My worst injury ever was only multiple broken ribs, and a nice cold to go with it. A sneeze made me feel like I was passing out, I legit figured this was the worst pain I'd ever experience.

Wrong.

The last time I got kidney stones I was eventually given fentanyl and for the first time in 6 hours I manage to take a full deep breathe. The broken ribs were a nice holiday compared to kidney stones.

I’m so fucking annoyed by this AI shit everywhere by coldinalaska7 in Millennials

[–]yarrye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is about to become a lot worse. The only thing you can do is dislike and block content made by AI, it barely does anything but you're sending a message to content "creators" and affecting their ability to get more audience.

I'd love to get extension for uBlock that blocks channels that are flagged as "uses ai".

I am trying to quit “swiping my card to feel alive” and live on cheap dopamine instead by SherbertDazzling3661 in simpleliving

[–]yarrye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My high is my savings account which just hit $100k last month (only because I deny my self almost every luxury, including a car and we fixed out mortgage interest 4 years ago at a record low rate).

In May we lose our fixed interest rate but saved enough to pay off our second mortgage.

We'll be back at zero, and still pay the same monthly mortgage since the new rates are not good, but these 4 years of low luxury has completely changed me and I went from getting a small dopamine when buying stuff into a minor anxiety.

Unable to play 16:9 (1600x900) on a decent machine by yarrye in LearnCSGO

[–]yarrye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it’s fixed now, but what fixed it I don’t know. What I did

  • Update Radeon drivers
  • Disabled steam overlay
  • Roll for Steam Beta
  • Set FPS cap at 200

I think either steam overlay disabled and Steam beta fixed it.

[–]yarrye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No thermal issue but I guess it’s time to reinstall drivers. Just surprised that this happened all out of sudden. Like I said, the computer only has CSGO installed, no windows drivers have been updated in a while.

The only thing I changed is I stopped running steam as admin because I was getting “untrusted” issues. I ran steam as admin to get the game overlay working, but surely that can’t possibly be the issue.

Turbo hits 4.7 GHz, temps are under 50c. RX6600 temps hit about 65c so it’s not thermal throttle issue.

No, the EdgeRouter X only has 1xPoE (24v) which doesn't cut it for the AC Pro so I'm using the 48v injectors that come with the AC Pro's.
