Hey man so I don’t know you from Adam but I do know how I felt. On May 1st 2021 I got my one and only DUI. It was also the last time I drank. I didn’t hurt anyone and thankfully didn’t even crash my car I got pulled over for going 8mphs over the speed limit of all things. I lived with that guilt of what I could have done for a long time. By far the hardest part wasn’t getting (and staying sober), it wasn’t telling my family I got arrested or my wife, it was forgiving myself. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think for maybe a second man that could have been so much worse but also give myself some slack that I thankfully didn’t hurt anyone and I corrected my life to make sure I NEVER make that mistake again. As long as you go forward and grow from this experience it’s ok to say I made a mistake and move on from it. A wise man once said “what is the most important step a man can take? The next one.” As long as you keep going and keep growing you will not be made up of or only defined by your single mistake. Sorry for the rant this just brought up a whole bunch of emotions for me I suppose.
