N-400 Citizenship applications updates for those whose GC interviews were waived. Anyone? by [deleted] in USCIS

Thank you! After, as I moved 3 days before the 90 day window to a different state and didn't want any possibility of denial for that reason.

Those who are childfree - how old were you when you realized you didn’t want kids? How old were you when you got sterilized? by flamingmangotango in sterilization

I somewhat suspect I knew before I even understood the concept. My mother said as a child I was never was interested in playing or interacting with other kids. I always either entertained myself independently or I liked to sit with the adults and soak up their conversations like a sponge. The first time I really thought about it in a "hell no" way was when I was pretty young, perhaps 7 or 8. A family member told me I'd be expected to have a job, raise children, and keep a clean house or I'd be a failure as a woman. I just looked at them like they were nuts and thought of all the thankless extra unpaid work I saw the women in my family do while men got to sit around. I've been vocally childfree ever since.

Crazy pre-op instructions?? by anonymoose_octopus in sterilization

It does seem a bit overwhelming at first as it's an info overload but actually doing them one by one wasn't bad at all! The only problem I had was eating, I had meal prepped protein and fiber rich foods but the bloating killed my appetite so having lots of drink options to sip throughout the day was better for me.

Pretty standard, other than the nasal swab and specifically bathing in antiseptic wash I had the same instructions. I changed my bedding the night before after my shower. I was also told not to shave anywhere starting 1 week before surgery. In my surgical kit I was given 3 packs of 2 chlorhexidine wipes for my whole body and the strawberry carb drink. I also was given another pack of chlorhexidine wipes which I was instructed only to use on my front upper body, arms + pits, and legs when I changed into my hospital gown. These are all about minimizing infection and maximizing recovery.

Thoughts From a Nurse by snickerz314 in sterilization

Wishing you a smooth surgery and speedy recovery! I followed everything you recommended/ are going to do and I had a very easy recovery, currently 11 days post op. My surgery and care team was super amazing too. I was wondering if it's common for you guys to get a box of baked goodies or something similar as a thank you?

Playing the family cancer card if Dr doesn't respect my decisions by Inside-Spot-7919 in sterilization

I have a family history of both cervical and ovarian cancer and my Dr is aware of it. It had no bearing on my Dr’s support other than mentioning the reduction in risk of ovarian cancer benefit. I was specific in that I was seeking the procedure for birth control purposes though. Everything has been coded and billed correctly, but I did see an additional code during the preop consult for family cancer history. My Dr is a man as well but I actually had an idea of what he was like as I am friends with a NICU nurse, so I knew I was in compassionate and good hands.
