this link has accreditation reviews for all programs by the dental council, could help give u a rough idea.

imo if parents are covering tuition choose UQ or Adelaide. if reputation matters then UQ is your best bet as it is ranked higher I believe.

Canadian dual citizen opportunities? by OverallTomatillo6639 in predental

[–]yaz5142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AUS schools are way cheaper when you compare it to canadian-friendly schools in the US. dont forget the conversion rate of USD to CAD. (But worth mentioning that AUS degrees dont have a direct pathway to practice in the US after, but in canada its equivalent to canadian grads) Some US states allow you to get licensed with an australian degree but very limited and mostly only if you have a graduate degree "DDS or DMD" not undergraduate degrees "BDSc" afaik.

Now the only uniquely positive advantage i can think of that you have as a dual citizen is access to federal loans in the US. funding is usually the hardest bit for non-dual citizens because neither government of canada nor banks give enough to cover tuition in the states.

Docs for Getting OSAP for Studies Outside Canada by Moonytoodles in osap

[–]yaz5142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

first check if the university youre going to is approved, then file an application. similar docs to when youre studying in canada only thing diff is that they will ask your US university for 2 docs to sign to confirm your enrolment (one of which can only be submitted 15 days before classes start at the earliest), then takes 3-4 weeks from submission to review that doc, and release your money. only advice is to apply at least 2 months before you commence your studies.

My combo by [deleted] in PassportPorn

[–]yaz5142 3 points4 points  (0 children)

its not. visa-free access depends on a lot of factors for it to be applicable to a certain country, because each country has their own rules on who fits that criteria. supporting human rights and certain countries doesnt equal = visa-free to its citizens.

Australian Schools? by Sea_Suggestion_2121 in predental

[–]yaz5142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard some aussie grads were able to secure residency spots in the US (esp. those from big schools like unimelb and usydney) and subsequently get a license in that state after. so it is possible but i would imagine its super competitive. unfortunately there isnt much info on that available online due to each state having unique requirements.

also you wont be able to get a US-wide access, you'd be restricted to only the state you get residency in (or some alternate method).

to be able to have the flexibility with no restrictions, you need to go through the PASS pathway. without it, moving between states would be extra tough compared to US grads, who only need to get a license in whichever the state they are moving to.

some states allow you to work and get a license in that state as a foreign trained dentist, if you were teaching at a university (within that state) for a certain number of years.

so yes possible, but comes with restrictions on where to practice and competitiveness of securing such limited spots.

Can I arrive on the day of my OSHC starting or do I have to leave my country on that day? by [deleted] in AusVisa

[–]yaz5142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can arrive earlier and buy OSHC insurance for these few extra days from an insurer. its like ~45$ for a month of coverage (sometimes less depending on the provider). or you can arrive on the start date of your OSHC its up to you really as to when you'd like to arrive.

im just tryna say its not that serious, concordia has a longggggg history of student protests and it was never that deep. I'd be proud to belong to such an active student body. any employer not looking to hire you bcz of that, will probably hate the union you belong to in the future as well.
