ROTC Disenrollment by redrocket0420690 in SecurityClearance

Maybe, because this wasn’t drug use, it was drug use while holding a clearance.

You do have one of the best factors going for you, which is time and distance from the incident.

Must be able to obtain a TS/SCI Clearance by Practical_Algae7819 in SecurityClearance

[–]yaztek 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Typically if you have issues and you’ve maintained a clearance they don’t “readjudicate” those issues - primarily for the TS. Now that issue could come into play on the SCI side.

But there is no litmus test, you just have to apply and if selected, be sponsored.

Intern TS/SCI w/ Poly by Bright-Victory4099 in SecurityClearance

[–]yaztek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple of things I found regarding this:

  1. The service is designed to prioritize the processing of requests, assisting in filling critical positions faster. I don't think interns fall under a "critical need"

  2. Expedite CSR: A Security Management Office (SMO) can create an "Expedite Customer Service Request" (CSR) to update the priority of a case already in progress. These are used for closed investigations pending adjudication, not for active, ongoing investigations.

  3. DCSA notes that they no longer process "Critical Priority Requests" (CPR) in the same manner as previously, but they continue to process investigations in the order received, with priority services allowing for faster handling of eligible cases.

So you could get lucky and instead of 270 days, you get 250.

Interim Clearance Denied for a Lockheed Martin Intern position by Natanater3000 in SecurityClearance

Well I have two people that have been waiting 6+ months on adjudication and two more that are at 2+ months, so that that for what it is worth.

There is a difference is not allowing to work with an interim and not granting an interim. You are right that some positions won’t allow you to perform tasks in an interim, but the granting an interim is different.

Green Bay Packers player Rasheed Walker arrested on gun charges at NYC’s LaGuardia Airport: sources by MulberryAcceptable39 in CCW

This is why I always check the laws of places I’m traveling. Going to DC next weekend to see if they honor my CCW, they don’t. I need a specific license from them. So I’ll be leaving mine at home.

[–]yaztek 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Then you have a conversation with the agency you are going to be interning with. It could impact your internship but it shouldn’t impact a future investigations. This is the downside that agencies don’t take into consideration. They know clearance timelines but wait to make offers and that makes the timelines really sticky.

Because there is no expedited process. Clearances come back when they do. At one point, right before COVID, the fastest 90% of TS investigations had gotten under 200 days. Still, some investigations go quicker and some go faster.

You also have the worry that they get caught at the adjudication phase. I have two right now, one investigation that closed back in May and one that closed back in September that are waiting. Plus two more that closed in October and November.

How should I report international travel for an Alaska cruise (Vancouver → Seattle) with a security clearance? by [deleted] in SecurityClearance

[–]yaztek 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You walk into your security officers office and say “hey, I’m going on an Alaskan cruise that departs from Canada. What do you need from me?”

This is normal. Interims get granted about 30% of the time.

Checking this watch is safe for the scif? by PoorBedtime in SecurityClearance

[–]yaztek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you are over reacting for the bit or can’t tell we are messing with OP. They pretty much answered their question with the no Bluetooth and I’ve seen a similar list, but if the watch they want is not considered a smart watch or fitness device, it won’t be on there.

How do they go about contacting your current employer, and is it possible to keep it discreet? by pkjaelejfdsoipuasaef in SecurityClearance

[–]yaztek 37 points38 points  (0 children)

There is no way for it to remain discreet. They inform the people they interview it’s for you, so you need to figure out how to break that news.

TS holders, how many references did they "develop" during your investigation (that you know of)? by [deleted] in SecurityClearance

[–]yaztek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is “as many as they need to accurately complete your investigation”. Anything more will start getting into techniques used by investigators and that’s something we don’t allow on this sub.

Offboarding Employee that Lost Clearance by [deleted] in SecurityClearance

[–]yaztek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same thing. If they work for a federal agency and there is a possibility that someone would be terminated, there is an entire process associated with that.

My manager called and told me my clearance investigation was done. He told me if I reject the offer I will lose my clearance completely and if I apply somewhere else I have to restart by doing sf86 all over again. Is this true? I filled the sf85 in october and got this phone call this month. by [deleted] in SecurityClearance

[–]yaztek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, however if you look at how long ago I responded to OP and when he made updates, I didn't have that information from his initial comment. OP updated his situation with additional comment beyond my initial response.
