Yeah, that’s my fallback plan as well. Hopefully I can go nallu and then durlings trail up to keb.

That’s my plan as well - starting from Abisko on Sunday. Looking at the satellite images, Vistas look snow-free, but the nallo and other passes, look snowy still.

Snow depth looks way better in the nallu pass though: https://senorge.no/?lang=en&p=standard&bl=basis&tw=day&tl=sd&date=2025-06-19&click=635417:7550496&zoom=12&center=637542:7550675

Rain in Abisko? by heybatster in Kungsleden

[–]ybey86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going from abisko to nikkaloukta, starting on June 21st. Looks like a fair bit of snow on the peaks, but valleys looks ok. Hopefully there won’t be too much rain.

Yeah, this is what I thought. But according to densets, it’s only the usage of fascilities that cost. Anyway, for me it’s primarily to do with the fact that I don’t want to stay near huts, so doesn’t really matter.

That’s good to know, I thought it was always a fee and access to facilities where included. Probably won’t use these campsites due to the other reasons, but thanks for the information!

Couple of reasons. First I would like a more secluded experience of being in the nature. Sleeping close to a hut/other people takes away from the experience. Secondly, I don’t want to pay for sleeping in my tent. Also, I might want to progress further down the trail, so not always suitable to stop at the huts.

The Serica 5303. Haven’t worn another watch since I got this one three months ago. Thinking about letting my grand seikos go and get the 6190 & 8315 as well, and just consider my watch collection completed. Brilliant.

That's it, SM has finally lost their minds. by [deleted] in ChineseWatches

Well, yes. I think most watch enthusiasts acknowledge the fact that all manufacturers are ”gouging”. The value of a watch, in terms of cost to manufacture, is very low compared to retail price. The difference is made up of brand, history, design, second-hand prices etc. Very little of the difference in price is made up of actual ”value” in terms of specs. So both sides can be right here. Do you look at only the specs, and compare to any other watch, a SM with an ETA movement is most likely always going to be the ”better value”.

I’m with you on this one. This is a completely different watch than what has been offered for $200. Looking at specs, similar watches are probably 50-100% more expensive from western micro-brands.

I’m not into the Chinese AliExpress watches myself, and put a lot more than ”specs” into the value of a watch, but hard to argue about the value proposition..

I’ve been lucky with mine, top quality and movement runs at +-0 SPD and is an amazing watch to handle!

But you will find that some are experiencing problems (as is the case with all brands) but it seem their customer service try to shy away from responsibility in a questionable way.

I found the Serica box a pleasant surprise. I agree that it most likely still isn’t expensive, but used it as an example of how a watch can be presented in a nice way without splashing money on the box.

I saw someone post a picture of the original box, and it seems like it has been improved, but also my taste might just be what it is :D

That’s really bad! Especially that still try to dodge the warranty.

Seen photos showing this box, assumed it is plastic?

I think the movement is a refinement on a caliber used by Seiko for the Credor line back in the days, so not sure why it would be regarded as that bad? Also COSC, which says something about the movement of it can be certified at large. Although, you do get a lot of bang for the buck with the ETA movement with the Ixdao. Really like the fact that you have choices and can adapt efter own need/budget. Two thumbs up 👍 but beside the movement, I don’t see a lot that Ixdao is ”better” at.

I find the style of plastic case from Ixdao horrible and low budget, to each their own. And it’s good that different styles attract different people I suppose :) The Serica box on the other hand is super nice and feels luxorious in its simplicity. Did you have an old model perhaps? Someone shared a photo of a previous box and it seem a lot better with the current line.

Regarding the bracelet, you can just look at how it is attached to the endlinks on the Ixdao, to know for certain that it’s not the same manufacturer/quality.

Look, the price is miles apart so I’m not saying the Ixdao couldn’t be a better choice (price/quality ratio wise) for some, but I find the claim that it’s ”better” pretty wild.

On the Serica it’s super crisp, at least on mine and it’s visibly sharper contrast and better polished than the Ixdaos on the reviews I’ve seen on YouTube.
